After a disappointing first outing, I couldn't hit squat standing, point & shoot with this 2" M&P. I decided it was time for a dedicated trip to the range to figure out this gun.
Although it is a fairly heavy gun to pocket carry, I like it and wanted to learn to shoot it confidently, point and shoot, as if in "real life".
One session isn't going to be enough, but I'm tickled to know that it is me, not the gun. After several targets I was able to get a decent pattern, single action, sitting and resting on the bench. A final standing point and shoot double action at 7 yds, I got 3 of 6 showing on the 12" x 12" target.

Beautiful old M&P, they are hard to shoot with those tiny thin sights, but it look's like you got the hang of it. 👍

I do a lot of shooting with snubbies. Mostly a model 36 and an older Colt Cobra. I had a late 70s 2" RB model 10 that I wish I had kept. I am leaning toward replacing it with an early to mid 50s model like yours instead of a 70s or 80s gun.

When I got the first 36 , a 2" SB I also was getting set up for reloading and was able to practice frequently with 148 WC and a light charge of Bullseye. Comfortable and fun to shoot and made practice enjoyable. My main .38 is a model 67 and the better sights and longer barrel helps But with enough practice you can get surprisingly good with an M&P.

That is a nice gun. Good luck with it.
