My favorite is the shoot-out at the climax of "The Kingdom"-realism & weapons authenticity A+.Also getting my vote, are the village square shoot-out in "Ronin."and, of course, the post-bank robbery shoot-out in "Heat."What's your favorite?

The OK Corral shootout in Tombstone. The big shootout at the end of Open Range. ANY Dirty Harry confrontation.

All good choices. I concur.

I would add the shoot-out in the basement tavern in "Inglourious Basterds." Only a few seconds long, but follwoing something like 20 minutes of claustrophobic build-up to the moment of action, I was so ready for the confrontation that it seemed to go on forever. Then I replayed it. Then I replayed it again. And again. And every time I replayed it I realized how carefully the sequence of shots, hits, misses and chaotic action had been preplanned and scripted. An absolute classic.

Writing this makes me think I need to put this flick back in my Netflix queue just to watch the shootout again.

In addition to those already mentioned there were some good shoot-outs in
Equilibrium (not realistic, but still entertaining)
Extreme Prejudice
Rambo

Tom Horn sv Lee Mendenhauer

Howdy,
I always liked the Tom Horn vs Lee Mendenhauer scene in Steve McQueen's TOM HORN.
It is a one on one shootout but Tom kills Mendenhauer before he hits the ground while having his horse shot out from under him, and kills him four more times before burning him to death.
There is a great Utube clip on it, but I wont post it due to bad language.
If that does not bother you, and you have not seen the movie, go on and look it up. It will make you want to see the rest of the movie.
The duel between Tom Horn and Gentleman Jim Corbett is another classic earlier in the movie.
Thanks
Mike

the opening dday beach assault scene of saving private ryan and the shootouts in boondock saints is good

I have two, cant deside which is best.

The first, Water Hole #3, where the good guy (kind of a good guy) was callanged to a gun fight. Typical TV western gun fight, the bad guy is waiting in the street. Good guy walks out of the bar, goes behind a horse, draws a rifle out of the scabard, lays it across the saddle, and wacks the bad guy.

The Second, City Heat. Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds are in a fight with the bad guys, each time they run out of ammo they reach in their jacket and pull out another gun, each one with a longer barrel, after about 4 or 5 guns each they end up with some pretty long barrels, Clint with a revolver, Bert with an auto.

Collateral, when the cabbie(Jamie Foxx) takes down the hitman(Tom Cruise)

Hmmm...

When Philip Marlowe guns down Lash Canino in The Big Sleep. Three slugs to the gut with a snubby.

"My, my, my! Such a lot of guns around town and so few brains! You know, you're the second guy I've met today that seems to think a gat in the hand means the world by the tail." Philip Marlowe

Classic stuff.
