The Model 18 for me. Easy to shoot, extremely accurate, low recoil, cheap ammo and the perfect gun to hone you DA skills. Plus, its loads of fun! :D

My favorite is my 617. I now shoot it in Steel Challenge Matches in RFPO or RFPI depending on my feelings that month. It's a tack driver with iron or open sights.

The humble Model 10 wins it for me. It has soldiered on for over a century in a variety of configurations and variations. It's the quintessential thirty-eight revolver, and has timeless looks. It's a blast to shoot in a recreational setting, and has been a dependable service gun for police departments and militaries across the globe. No matter how many revolvers I shoot and/or own, I always find myself coming back to the Model 10 time and time again.

Really, any N frame.

However, back in the revolver days, I picked up the first blued M581 I could find. I wanted a fixed sight 357 with a bit of weight for a duty weapon.

The 27 and 28 are listed together. No fair. I cant vote for that. 😉

How come? You like one, but not the other? I don't know anyone who has one that doesn't want the other, if they don't already have one.

The M57 and M58 are also together on the poll. I'm assuming these pairs were put together for a reason, because they are closely related models and both being so similar.

I find it rather unsurprising the pairs are in the top four in popularity, according to the poll.

Old thread but why not? My 67-1 and 686-0 are both my favorites and my only. The 67 makes me a much better shot than I can hope to be but the 686 is just a blast with full house loads. IMHO

5" Model 10 or M&P. Any vintage of that sidearm is my favorite by a wide margin. Which reminds me, I really should pick up another.

The best thing S&W has done in the last 40 years has been the 586/686 series. My favorite is my S&W 686 Plus four inch.

At one time I had a very nice assortment of M27s.

8 3/8" 1959
6.5" 1960
6" 1961
5" 1974
4" 1957 (one of about 20 4" pre-27s)
3.5" 1955
6" nickel 1968

I still haave my 1960 6.5" and my 1974 5".

I am currently collecting the S&W ACP revolvers withOUT the heavy lug. So that means, Models 1917 Army and Commercial, 1950 Army and Target, 1955, 22, 25 and 26. That was not an option so, no vote from me.
