Favorite Model S&W revolver Poll

I'm definitely enjoying this discussion… at the same time, the poll is ludicrous and I won't cast a vote. Seems to me that most of us couldn't possibly pick one, I surely cannot.

So I find the poll to be of no value, but the discussion is grand.

I think the 28-2, the Model 14, the 4-inch heavy barrel 10 & 64 and the 686 are heads and shoulders above the rest, at least for my tastes.

Gotta say it's crazy if… I am the first one to say, ahem, Registered Magnum?!

There's a special place in my heart for the 586 6 inch.Loved that revolver...maybe because it was my first.Of the 4 Smiths I've owned (586,686,29, &629), it was my favourite by far.

I voted model 27, only because Schofield wasn't an option. The model 18 would be a close second, or maybe the 19, or the 66, 586, 48, 51, 34, 43, 58, 14, 15, or.....OHHHHH! WHY WOULD YOU MAKE ME CHOSE ONE!?! This is totally un-American and I refuse to participate any longer. They are ALL my favorite.

My favorites change, the poll would have to allow multiple selections.

Currently 3" M547.

Or maybe 3" M64.

Or maybe 2 1/2" M19….

I am torn, like you all are. One? I dream of the RM, I have a weakness for Terriers and Model 13s, I can't hold a 6.5" N-frame without grinning. So I have to go back to the basic, the gun that a close friend still owns that first stirred the feelings for the S&W revolvers, over half a century ago, a 5 inch Model 10. Simplistic beauty, a classic American work of art.

I also chose the 547 as of its uniqueness. Go to the range shoot it and when knowledgeable people see the ammo it uses it gets interesting.

I note that it did not make the OP list. Course a few other good Smith's also did not. Favorite is a subjective things, depend on the category, a owner (like me) could have many favorite Smith's!

I must apologize to those I left out. I should have been more diligent in using multiple lists and merging them. I spent a couple of hours and it wasn't enough. Thanks to all that left comments and included the their missing models.
Thanks for all that participated so far. The comments are priceless; puts a little color onto a black and white question. Lots of folks were able to explain the details of why they made their choice. That was the best.

Several folks Correctly pointed out that the Poll was incomplete; blame Wikipedia and my laziness. Polls on S&Wforum requires you to pick a Number of potential choices BEFORE you start. I think I picked 47. There are no "Edits".

It's just a Poll. It's not life and death. It's for Fun.
The Humane Society certified that No guns were harmed or destroyed as a result of the Poll.

Shocked at the model 10 fan club. The 686 is certainly kicking some tail.
As for missing models, I missed my own 631 .32H&Rmag.

Maybe I'll take the suggestion and make a Poll for the S&W models you dislike.
I could add in your favorite missing models for the detest list.

having to choose one was a challenge... I have ones that I would prefer based on purpose... 66 was my father's go to, 19 was a gift from him, 686, 625, 28, 10 - all fantastic... but in the end I used round count and accuracy as my divining rod.. 617 6 inch wins... thousands of rounds down range and capable of busting clay pigeons at 100 yards...

Many favorites for me on the list but in picking only one it's my model 14 ,a gun that since I got it will literally not let me miss . I'm not as good as this gun makes me.The only thing it won't do is load itself.

The revolvers that I find most enjoyable right now are the Models 17 and 18.
