Favorite non-S&W every day carry (EDC) guns

Sig 365 for me. I have a shield but it's in my safe. A good pistol.

I've got two J-frames and they're painful to shoot. And impossible (for me) to get a follow up round. I've got huge rubber grips on my 442, which kinda negates it as a pocket carry weapon.

I also carry a .32 PPK and a .380 PPK. Sometimes, but not usually.

what kind of knife is that

Taurus 605 with laser grips, carry it and two speed loaders in a fanny pack. My eyes just ain't what they used to be, wish I could find a green laser for it.

Almost every day of my adult life, since 1980, there has been a Smith & Wesson J-frame with me. Oftentimes as a backup and in recent years as a primary

Usually, my larger sidearm was determined by the organization I was with at the time

When the choice of sidearm is mine, I will usually carry a SIG P220. Initially chambered in 45 ACP, but for the past 7 or 8 years, it has been chambered in 10MM Auto

Back in the latter part of the 80s ...... I transitioned from Cocked and locked Colts to a Sig 220 to meet my winter .45 needs..... mine says "W. Germany" and will shoot cloverleafs at 50ft (not me so much anymore :D) In the early 90s I got a Compact Sig 245 to replace my 4516 which was a brick to carry. Finally picked up a Sig "Earnest Langdon" all steel 220 which is still nib. Still like my old Sigs..... but over the years I seem to have gravitated to hi-cap 9s vs single stack .45s. A PC Shorty-9 vs. Sig 245's 6+1.

As good as my m&p 40 is my edc is a early production P320c 40 with a x grip . Also have a p320XC in the waiting .

Like the song: "All my x's live in Texas". I don't have a favorite carry pistol/revolver that is not a Smith & Wesson. I would have to carry my wife's Colt Detective Special to even come close.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving,

Leon

The P365 is the only modern gun I actually have a satisfactory concealment holster for, and it's a great little gun. It's very easy for me to shoot accurately, and it seems to handle the recoil impulse much better than the Solo 9 or PM9, and a little better than the Shield. I like it.

I still have holsters for my Commanders, but I rarely use them. That might change if the antis get in office and have some success making our lives miserable with their incessant harping about "high capacity" magazines. For what I do, a 7+1 .45 Commander is still as good as it ever was.

In the true mini category, I used to have a Keltec P38T, or whatever it is they call that thing. It was a perfectly good little .380 for very close range. Mine never malfunctioned, but it pinched my trigger finger enough to make it bleed after a few shots. (The little Ruger does the same.) I sold it (foolishly) but now I wish I hadn't. I'd like to try a Kahr .380 someday.

Other non-S&W honorable mentions I've tried in the past, listed in no particular order...
Seecamp .32
Baby Browning .25
Walther TPH .22
Walther PPK .380
Browning 1910 .380
Browning P35
SIGs 220, P6, 226, 228, 229
Springfield XDs .45
and probably a few more.

My most carried piece is a non-S&W.
The SIG 1911 Ultra Compact .45 has pretty much taken the spot of EDC.
When I need something smaller, my Mod.649 steps in quite comfortably.
Both make range trips to keep my proficiency level acceptable.
As an interesting note, I really like 1911's in general and have carried many over the years. This SID has earned its position as top EDC by being the handgun that I can most accurately present, and its ability to deliver failure-free performance. What more can I ask for. I guess sometimes, and to some degree, you get what you pay for.

When it isn't a Smith, I will move around to Colt 1911's or a Kahr PM9 depending on what I am wearing and what type of mood I am in.
