Favorite obscure films

Not only are these films obscure, they've achieved almost sleaze/cult status. These films from the 90s were obviously influenced by Tarantino's Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs.

And ironically, they feature actors who are big name stars now.

Pretty sure you won't see these on ordinary TV anywhere, at least not in any unedited form.

City of Industry (1997): Starring Stephen Dorff, currently of True Detective fame. Harvey Keitel's in this one, too.

Two Days in the Valley (1996): So many people...click the link to see the full cast. There's a surprise (and uncredited) cameo in this film, but I won't tell who it is.

Freeway (1996): Keifer Sutherland, Reese Witherspoon. This is one you have to see to believe. The viewer wonders if Sutherland and Witherspoon took these roles as the result of losing a bet or something.

Love and a .45 (1994): Renée Zellweger, Gill Bellows...and an absolutely ludicrously horrible cameo by Peter Fonda. Everyone is so over the top in this film, the viewer just sorta watches it in a state of amazement. Is it for real, or some sort of parody? You decide.

Bound (1996): Jennifer Tilly, Gina Gershon, Joe Pantoliano. No description from me...you gotta see this one for yourself.

And last, but definitely not least...

Blood Simple (1984): The Coen brothers directorial debut...the film that put them on the map for sure. With Francis McDormand (Joel Coen's wife since 1984). This one has the plot twists and turns that made the Coen brothers famous. This is Texas noir-sleaze at its finest.

Another older one, obscure and that you don't see much or hear about is The Birdmen/Escape of the Birdmen or similar names. Starred Doug McClure and Chuck Connors, Tom Skerritt, Max Baer Jr and others and was inspired by the building of a glider in Colditz Castle POW camp. The glider IRL never was flown but in the movie it was. I remember seeing it in the early 70s at my grandparents house when I was a much younger person.

I second Blood Simple.

Here's two of my favorites:
Assault on Precinct 13: A scheduled to be closed precinct with no communication and with one prisoner is assaulted by a gang looking for revenge.
Logan's Run: Perhaps one of the best futuristic sci fi movies ever made.
