FCA re-introduces the Grand Wagoneer

Alright, so in case you are curious, I did get more info...

I was inquiring about the tow package and for that you'll need to select the premium package as it is not available in the standard configuration. This is stupid I thought because this brings the price up to $83,465 for a Wagoneer.

Attached was as price sheet which is not available online (why not?) and it explained it a little better.

Apparently they currently offer 12 pre-configured models. I believe these models are for all the pre-orders they have taken. To pre order you need to select a dealer, a configuration and pay $500. From then on the dealer will "deal" with you. Once they run out of those I believe we will get a regular online build and price feature, because the base price for the model I'm interested in is $70,995.

I find these prices outrageous but if you shop around at Chevrolet, GMC, Toyota, Lexus.... they all cost $70K+ (online MSRP) and it's ridiculous.

So based on that I don't think the Wagoneer is overpriced, but I'm not willing to go spend $83K plus $2K destination charge + TTL and end up with a $90K+ full size SUV. Sorry.

However, there are a few things that are nice:

- 24/7 Support and roadside assistance.
- No charge for equivalent loaner car.
- Trip interruption coverage.
- VIP access to select, exclusive Jeep brand events.
- 5 year worry free maintenance and tire rotations.
- Cleaning inside/outside plus full tank after every service.
- Pickup and delivery service for maintenance.

I can email you the .pdf if you like. Both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have great features and I'm certain they will dominate the SUV market.

But we've decided that we'll keep our 2018 RAM.... there's absolutely nothing wrong with it and we love driving it. We just wanted a full size SUV, but not for this price.

Perhaps in a year or two there will be good used ones... or dealer demos. Because if you ask me, the Wagoneer would be it. I loved the design ever since I saw it the first time. All the others are ugly :D

90k is half a house in NEPA.

Why on God's green earth would anyone spend that kind of bread on something that depreciates the minute you drive it off the lot is beyond me.

Just to have something most other people don't.

I won't be holding my breathe to see that happen

Good luck with your hunt, and let us know if you bag one. :)

Our neighbor in NY had one of the originals forever. A great vehicle. Hopefully the new ones are just as good.

A little off topic, but I took my weekly trip to the big city (almost 11,000 people :) ) today for groceries, it's amazing to me how many Wranglers are on the road. It's about an hour round trip, and I must have seen about ten of the things.

Not a Horse drawn Wagon

Thank you for the Jeep Wagoneer Update. Great Company,
Great Vehicles, and Great Competitive Spirit.

Back in the 1990’s I rented a Cherokee, one of the worst
ideas ever, and would never consider the Jeep Brand.

Jump to 2017, needed a SUV. With test driving and research
I got a Cherokee. Wow they have come a long way.

Four trouble free years, very nice long distance ride, plenty of
Horse power to pass, high Gas mileage, and interior is not
Black.

Unfortunately I don’t see the Wagoneer in my conservative
Future.

Hard to imagine that Mercedes is the value brand in comparison!

My granddad had a Mercedes, a W114 200D (/8) and I started my mechanic apprenticeship there.

They had a good reputation then, good products, great service and set the benchmark.

Later in my career we would get great feedback by many customers, despite being involved in one of the biggest recall efforts ever.

Now it seems to me they are chasing the market instead of the market chasing them.

Too many new edge models, too many gimmicks and too many "we want to be hip" features find their way into those cars, driving up price but not quality.

I'm a little bit disappointed actually, not that they care. But they have lost this classic, sophisticated styling that they once had as well as the timeless elegance they once portrayed.

A lot of their problems began in the early 2000's, when they bought Chrysler and started cutting corners. Now there isn't really anything that distinguishes them from any other car. I do like my GLK though. I took it in for service last week, got a GLC (its replacement) as a loaner. I didn't like it. It is the generic jellybean shape and they replaced the 3.5 V6 with a gutless 2.0 4 banger.

I don't like these crossovers, what I really miss is station wagons. Those are great. Unfortunately Mercedes only offers the E class as station wagon in the States and only as "All Terrain Wagon" and C63. I believe they even canceled the AMG version... this is nuts. No one but imports offers a true station wagon.

Anyway, here's a video on the Grand Wagoneer. I stand with what I've said; it's an absolute beautiful vehicle and if I could only have one vehicle this would be it.

But again, I'm not willing to drop such money on a family SUV. The Wagoneer with 4x4 and tow package would cost me about $85K and that's $25K more than I'm willing to spend. For $60K I'd pull the trigger. And if you consider the added $2K destination charge and TTL it's still too much.

I've owned one Jeep, 80's CJ, with rag top, 5 speed and 4 cylinder engine
Bought it to pull wheels down behind my old bus conversion, girls learned
to drive with it and then it set for a year. Sold it for 2/3 what I gave.
Owned one 70's model Dodge van that was auctioned off after being'
ceased from a drug runner. It had the 318cu.in. engine and was a pretty
good old van considering the $300.00 I paid for it, the transmission was
out, so had to put a rebuild on the tranny.
Owned a Allis Chalmers HD11 dozer when Fiat bought them out and changed the name to FiatAllis, dozers went down hill afterwards. I liked
the old HD11, it would do a lot of work and economical to run.
The best things about the Dodge/Ram trucks is the Cummins diesel engines, they are still running when the rest of the truck has fallen apart.
Just my opinion, like everything else, everyone has one.

What kind of mileage did you get with that Allis Chalmers HD11????? I bet that thing had some low end towing torque!!!
