Federal 125gr JHP +P

I have a box of Federal 125gr JHP +P 38 spl,the brass is scalloped around a lead HP.
Is this old school and is it good for self defense?
My mdl 10 2" seems to like this ammo.

There are better more modern loads, especially against auto glass, but if I carried a .38, I could carry that load with confidence. Most important of all, you and your gun shoot that cartridge well together. That load uses the same bullet that Federal puts in it's reknowned 125 gr. .357.
