I've got several boxes of Federal's 115 gr +P+ ammo that I've tried out in my 6906 and it's very accurate. I'm a bit concerned as to whether this particular ammo should be shot at all in alloy frame pistols however...especially this one. I don't intend on using it on a regular basis but since it does so well with accuracy/feeding, I'd like to use it perhaps down the road as a carry round. I'm I treading on glass doing so with this high pressure round in an alloy gun?

Reducing the slides velocity in recoil while increasing the already higher velocity when returning to battery by installing heavier than stock recoil springs has never made sense. You've got the mass of the frame stopping the slide in recoil, the slide stop going into battery.

The Illinois State Police fired that +P+ round in alloy framed 39s for decades with the stock spring. Used sparingly, it shouldn't really be an issue. Change the recoil spring on a regular basis. All mechanical devices are going to wear out sometime.

FWIW, I clocked that load as slower in my guns than Cor-Bon 115gr +P loads that keep the warranty in place.

They claim about 1300 fps from a 4 inch barrel. I figure with the somewhat shorter barrel on the 6906 maybe 1250 which should be fast enough. This round has had an excellent track record for decades and I thought of choosing it over Ranger T's in this particular pistol due to the alloy frame. The G19 likes them both.

Claima and delivery are two different kettles of fish. I wish I'd recorded the velocity. The Cor-Bon clocked an honest 1300 fps from a 4 inch barrels. As best I can recall, the 9BPLE clocked about the same as Remington +P ( 70 fps slower). The round does have demonstrated issues with large economy sized adversaries.

I was not impressed with the clocked velocity for the Federal +P+ 115 grain at 1212 fps, compared to the Winchester at 1263 and Remington at 1317, all from a 4.05" barrel at the same range session.

I don't know what the velocity is for the 9BPLE round but it's accurate, reliable in my pistols and street proven. I shot just enough to see if they'd be reliable and wasn't disappointed. There may be better rounds today but this is still a grand old round, IMHO.
