Just picked up this 15-3 for $300. Was not looking for, or had any intention of even owning a snub nose 38. But this one fell in my lap and I couldn't turn it down. Co-worker got this after his mother passed and didn't have any use for it. He had a picture on his phone that didn't really tell me anything. I told him, without knowing anything about it, I'd give $300. He said, "sold!" Now that I have it, I am so excited about this gun. I think this will become my carry gun... Serial # 5K910XX
Can somebody date it for me?

You stole it at that price! Excellent find, it's one on my want list. I'm sorry I can't date it for you, but I'm sure someone will come along with the answer soon enough.

I have 5K901XX, 2" 15-3, and it is a wonderful gun. It thinks it is a 6" target gun the way it shoots. You got a screaming deal on that one. I have seen them recently in the $600+ range, and selling at that.

At $300 you did well. Several months ago I passed up a 15-3 snubby as I couldn't get the seller to go lower than $450 (it had non-original target grips). I would have taken it at $400-$425.

You did much better than Good on this deal.

By GB standards anything south of $500 is a deal and it is unusual to see more than a half dozen listed. I picked up this pictured M15-2 for $480 and felt I had scored a good deal. Just this week I couldn't pass up a M15-3 for $530 and still felt good about the purchase due to the condition much like the -2. I will be interesting to see how I feel about these two revolvers in the next couple of years, I will guess that I will feel very fortunate to even come across these fine 15's and the price will become a moot point. Never met a M15 I didn't like.

After reading all of the replies, I'm wondering if I should give my friend another $100.
Didn't realize what I really had.
Didn't mention it, but the bluing on this is around 90% or higher. Slight sign of wear at the tip of the barrel, and the sharp edges of the fluting on the cylinder.
Very dirty though. Looks like it sat in somebody's sock drawer, or tucked away in the back of a closet shelf for 20 or 30 years.
So excited about this find. Can't get over it...

I'd like to date it at my gun club! You did QUITE WELL! That makes up for the times that you don't. Enjoy it! Wish I had 1. Bob
