Fell in Love with the Shield

Just got my Shield in 40 yesterday at one of my local shops that had a brand new one on the shelf. I sold my Springfield XDs the day before to switch to the Shield. I love the look and feel of it. I'm qualifying with it this week. I still love my Glock 23 and my S&W 642 but the Shield is gonna be a regular on my hip for years to come.

I kept my PF-9 for several months after buying my Shield. Once I decided to sell the PF-9 I haven't missed it. You might have similar results.

I just bought my shield monday and have no intention of selling my P11.If I have a problem with either I won't be unarmed

What didn't you like about the xDs? I have both flavors of the Shield and xDs models and love them all.

I will start my own thread on this but i wanted to reply here as well to see what replies i get for this. I picked up my Shield Friday and Range trip was today. Like i said in my title i am a HUGE M&P fan and all mine work flawlessly so this is why i am miffed. I shot 250rnds at the range today out of my shield and had 3 "Failure To Extract" Stoppages. Granted, it was fresh out of the box still oily with that "New Gun Smell" :D This in no way makes me feel any different about the Shield, I love it, love it, love it... Any input is appreciated and welcomed. Thanks guys and a new thread will be started.

Send it back for repair. Yes I believe you should keep your weapons lubricate to extend the life of the gun but I personally feel a weapon should go bang without lube and or filthy dirty.

I took my Shield right from the box and shot her with no problem before I cleaned and lubed.

I bought 2 Shield 40's last year at the same time, the LGS knocked $50 off each gun so I paid $399.99 each. I will never part with my Shield.

I have had my Shield 40 for over a year. Love it.
Just recently purchased the Shield Performance Center 45. Shoots easier and smoother than the 40.

You stated that you love your Nano, well keep it and buy the shield. you will love the shield also. Remember there is a $75 rebate until June 30.

This thread is almost four years old! What did the OP end up doing? Still have the Nano? Buy a Shield?
How has Shield been?

Reliability is king! I've had good luck with my new Shield so far, through a couple of mags of reloads and some GDHP. So I would say to anyone with a Nano: how reliable has your Nano been? Anything less than totally reliable, then consider the Shield.

Even though this is an old thread, I'll throw in. I bought my Shield 9 a couple months ago and have about 1200 rounds through it. I was initially one of those new to plastic guns and had some early misgivings re tough springs, etc. This was due to having owned several "classic" guns like the browning Hi-Power and Colt Combat Commander and Gov't models. They are completely different in mass and suppleness in the action.

However, after shooting the Shield as much as I have in so short a time, I can now say that I have no issues at all. There have been no FTF or any failures at all - except my lousy eyesight. I have tested this gun by firing as fast as my finger can possibly move the stock trigger, gotten it as dirty as I can get it, used cheap ammo, expensive ammo, had the slide so hot I could barely touch it. Absolutely reliable - just like my bone stock Commander was. The Shield is a keeper. The only thing I've altered is adding thin leather panels on each side of the grips. Just a tad more in the palm is all. Feels better to me.
