No. I'm not the female, it's my younger daughter. The gun is an S&W9VE.

After some earnest kitchen table talk and some handling of our motor-home protection, the day came to try out what she has learned.

I stood her about ten feet from the plate pinned to the brackets and told her to ease the trigger all the way back.
Bang! Good, now do it again. Bang! Now do it again.

Ten times she eased that trigger back until it fired and kept the gun on the target afterward as perfectly as can be done.

You could cover all the holes with a coffee cup.

Then I showed her how to load the mags, made her do that and go shoot some more. She can rack the gun as well as I.

This lady is ready! :):):)

Congrats my friend!

My daughter loves the sigma and shoots it quite well.

Proud papas I guess. :)

Congrats ! Glad to hear of other daughters interested in and getting out to shoot. My duaghter will shoot two full mags through my 9VE before her hand gets tired. (she's a petite little thing) She would rather shoot my model 3913 though. The trigger is quite a bit lighter on that one so she is able to shoot it longer.

Congratulations to the young lady.

This confirms my suspicions that the Sigma shoots better if you don't over-think it and just shoot it! :D

My daughter fired a 50 cal the other day, when telling me about it, you could hear her grinning through the phone.. I am such a proud Mom!!

It is a great thing to see females learning how to shoot, and enjoying it. However it is even better, to see you father's taking the time to TEACH them how to properly handle and fire a weapon.

Me too AFS.

Girls make excellent students because they don't have to get past the macho thing.

Actually I also think they make excellent shooting student because typically they don't grow up with all the habits that boys do. By this I mean most of us grew up with slingshots,BB guns, bows and arrows etc. and quite frankly along with those some poor shooting habits.
In my experience from teaching my wife and two daughters, along with a couple my oldest daughters friends that they tend to learn very quickly better form and such because of the lack those experiences.
I wasn's expressing suprise. Rather, an interest in hearing that other Fathers are taking the time to show and teach (Their) daughters the same thing I was teaching mine.

Why do men continue to find it surprising that females can, do and enjoy shooting?

It puzzles me

My wife and her mother and sisters all enjoy shooting .22 rifles. Wife says that my SW9VE is too much though. She definitely has 'girly' wrists though.

Thanks girl-in-blue. I also think that it is equally inportant that shooting moms, grandmothers and or Aunts do the same.
