I pulled a real screw-up of my own making last August. To be brief, I left some cold blue on my
32 N frame Outdoorsman sideplate area..to remove some really small surface blemish remnants..
In my after-stroke memory lapses i left it on too long
and messed upmy sideplate finish.. After my other
home brew remedies..I eventually ssnt it off to
Doug and Katie Mosier at GlenRockBlue to fix my
DA screw-up..
I have to say my experience with them was terrific and the rebluing deluxe S&W bluing job came out
more than I wished for. It took approx 6 mos to get it back from Doug but it was well worth it.
I sent too much money to assure a great job and Doug sent back about a buck fifty on my overpayment for the 450-475 S&W DELUXE REBLUE JOB. I highly recommend him to you members
with my exc expteience with the Mosiers at the GlenRock Blue Company.. Many Thanks Doug for your care and talented job on my treasured Smith.
I need to add that this Smith looks 10 times better iin hand ..than it does my 1/2 *** pics !!
I will post some pics ASAP on its looks for you guys.
My Best ..Randy.

Sometimes a bad thing turns out well. Congrats on your nice revolver. It looks beautiful to me. All the markings look sharp.

Glad your happy with the outcome. They did some work for me in the past and I had the same experience. Good folks there!

Most people don't understand exactly what constitutes a good blue job versus ****.

Most people think it's a dark color that's nice and shiny.
It's not.
What makes a good job is the metal UNDER the blue and shine.

A top refinisher like Glenrock has the correct polishing equipment and the skills to keep flat surfaces flat, holes not dished out, and stamps polished off.
A bad job may be dark blue and glossy, but the metal looks like a bar of soap with rounded off edges, ripples in the flats and down the barrel, and stamps buffed away.

This is why Glenrock is arguably the best re-bluer in the business, and why top custom gunsmiths use them for high dollar guns that have to be right.

Bluing is expensive due to the hand work involved.
You can have expensive good work, or you can have slightly less expensive bad work.....choose ONE.

Bob, Yes the whole gun was reblued.
All of the assemnbly pins are still prominently
proud from the fr sight pin to the rear retainer spring
jnside pin still looks as new..

BigMoose..
You caught my photo mistake. The picture
with side plate showing is of my 22 Pre War
Outdoorsman I picked up by mistake. With the price of correct correct boxes I keep my Pre War
S&W's in unmarked Smith Boxes. I had both of my Outdoorsman's out and grabbed the 22 for that one sideplate photo. My mistake I beg yalls pardon for.
I just wanted to pass on my exc experience on my
treasured pre war 38 Outdoorsman that Doug fixed
my bonehead mistake on.
Doug is very good, just be aware, good work takes time. I have no regrets on Using GlenRock Blue !!
