I have a 6906 with round trigger guard that I am about to have some work done on to freshen it up.

I need to have the frame re-finished and while looking at it last night I noticed the frame sits out a little further than the radious on the slide, maybe 1/8-1/4" I was thinking about removing some metal off the front of the frame to make the slide radious and the front of the frame line up. Since I am getting it re-coated now would be the time. Removing that little bit off the front of the frame should not hurt anything will it?

My slide also needs re-finishing, well it does not need it but it looks dirty to me and no matter how hard I scrub or how well I clean it it just does not have that new look anymore.

Is the slide just bead blasted stainless or did S&W use and acctual coating on the slides? If it is blasted anyone know whats the best media to use to get it looking like it did when new?

A small amount off the front of the frame probably isn't going to bother anything. I try not to get too concerned over such cosmetics, it is a tool. The slides are glassbeaded originaly.

More guns have been ruined by a little Dremel work than by just about anything else.....Don't do it.
