So I've done my first GB deal.
Local FFL has had my item since Saturday 8:30am.
I called when it hit thier door, and they told me I'd have to wait until they called me.
They need to log it in before they can transfer it to me. Makes sense.

What's realistic for me to wait ? It's been 48 hrs + now. Yes I'm anxious, as I paid for something sight unseen. Yes I understand the dealers are busy nowdays.

What would you expect or think is realistic ?

Well, he has two business days to log it in, per the ATF regs. But making you wait much longer doesn't say much for his customer service.

Your profit and he's overhead, call him back and ask him how long he thinks it will be before you can pick up your merchandise.

He has till the end of the next business day after receiving the acquisition to enter it into his record book.

Thanks guys. Ran out of patience at about 1:30, and called. He said I can p/u after 5pm.

Based on 2152hq's post - looks like he's milking every second he can.

That is correct. So assuming the dealer is closed on Sunday, he has until the end of today (Monday) to record the gun in his A&D book. If he is also closed on Monday he has until the end of business Tuesday to record it.

Most dealers, including myself like to keep the books up to date. Records, not up to date can bring you some bad Karma

The last fire arm I purchased I just happen to be there when the truck rolled in. My dealer logged it in and out at that time and I left with it. Took me longer to fill out my forms to make the purchase.

If he does not like doing transfers I would find me another FFL holder to do buiseness with.

You are right. I have bought guns and sold them at gun shows. They got logged in the A&D book when I got back to the shop, where the book stays. As long as it is done within the required time frame is all that matters.

It takes all of a minute to record a gun in the A&D book. There should not be a long delay waiting on the dealer to do this. Strange.

that kind of hassle is always a buzz-killer...I'm glad everything worked out for you JD.

Thanks grit. Went with the 4" after all.
Found a deal too good to pass on.
