As a retired sergeant from a NE urban environment I can only point out that it's the police, emt's and ER staff that deal with the extreme end of domestic violence not the court or law making politicians.
If you haven't run a patrol car, night shift, answering non stop calls on a Friday or Saturday night you really have no idea just how hopelessly depraved our society is. Sadly it's on a constant downward spiral.

Go back and "carefully" read the Bruen Concurrance by Kavanaugh. It was joined by Roberts. Basically changes a 6-3 decision to a 4-5 the other way. Kavanaugh quotes Scalia in the Heller decision. Problem is that Scalia only added that paragraph in Heller to garner Kennedy's fifth vote. 2nd is NOT unlimited.
I suspect that the 5th Circuit decision will be overturned by either a 5 panel or on blanc rehearing and if it does reach SCOTUS on this particular fact situation it may bode poorly.

Question for Caj. It was said that the Fifth Circuit decision is only valid in the Fifth District. How is it that the 9th Circuit decisions are recoqnized Nationally and the 5th is only the 5th. True, or false.
Any circuits decisions are only binding in that circuit, until the supreme court decides otherwise.

False. While notorious nationally, they are not the law of the land outside the geographical confines of the 9th.
Indeed. I was shocked by the case - I'd assume that Arlington Police and the DA will go back to a grand jury with his other offenses.
The fact that THIS case is going to get an incredible bunch of very negative attention for 2A Rights just disgusts me. Someone earlier dug into the court dockets, and his other offences are working their way through the local courts.
Everyone has the same rights under the law. This time it isn't in the best interests of his community. But it has to be this way.

It will be interesting to watch this case as it works its way through the court. You could well be right and IANAL, however my layman's guess is that the decision will hinge on if the law in question is consistent with the "text and history" standard as set forth in Bruen.

Well, innocent until proven guilty, and taking away a Right from an innocent person, even temporarily is pretty bad, especially in the eyes of our Founding Fathers, who fought, sometimes died, to secure those Rights, I'm saying it won't pass muster.
Now, it SUCKS that this dirtbag is the test subject.
Your liberty goes away once arrested if you can't get released on bond or on recognizance . I'd call that more of a problem to a person than ability to possess a firearm being temporarily denied.

As of last Friday he was still in the Tarrant County jail on those charges. There is a status hearing scheduled for 02/23. Looks like they ran him through the Federal system first.

There's your sign right there. This country and most of the Western world got suckered into believing political correctness is actually a thing. It's just a fancy name for letting people get out of personal responsibility.
As for the OP, I suspect that Rahimi will find this a hollow victory given everything else he is facing.

why can't they just change the combo on your gun safe, and leave them in place? If your domestic partner tells you the new combo, that's on them.
