Fifty Dollars taken at best if that from a Winston-Salem Journal paper pay box completely destroyed. This is desperation on the part of some one. No excuse for criminal conduct. I wonder what the next criminal act is going to be and the consequence of that act.

That is EXACTLY what I've wanted to do when I put in the money and get no paper, and it keeps the coins.

Used a torch to get the coin, then beat the frame to pieces.

Print media does tend to anger some folks.

Someone may have :

1. Put in their lucky quarter by mistake

2. Been sad that the rumor about a coupon for a free Slurpee was false

3. Been angry that the machine wouldn't give them a paper for a fistful of Canadian nickels

4. Realized that Garfield was just never going to get any better

5. Wanted to kill the paper machine before it becamse sentient and came for them after having illegally downloaded an early cut of the new Terminator film

6. Had to obey the voices... obey the voices...

7. Their twin brother crawled into a paper machine when he was three and then suffocated, leading to a life long vendetta

When you have a bad habit to support, or are the 15 year old offspring of a 30 year old mother.....

+100, that seems to happen a LOT more than a paper actually comes comes out. Of course, since the DMN has now raised their price to $1, I find myself putting coins in their machines a lot less often.

In Canada, some shopping centers (or is it centres?) require you to place a loonie (a buck US) in order to unlock the cart. I came across a stash of carts (two in total) about 2 miles from the nearest grocery store with the coin carrier smashed out...

Damn, that's hard up!

Next to it was a plastic bag full of wire casing (figure that). I'll bet they used one of the carts to haul the wire!
