So about an hour or two ago i was on my way home from filling my car with an insanely expensive amount of gas at a local station. i was traveling on Rt112 which is very well paroled by our local boys in blue. Speed limit was 35 last week, looks like they changed it to 30 very recently and i didn't notice because i was tooling along at about 38-39.

I see blues behind me and pull over, stop the engine, turn on interior and grabbed my lic, reg, ins, and CCW permit.

A young young officer, probably 22, maybe 23 walks up to my window which was open and before he even says anything i hand him my papers and inform him that im carrying.

Expecting the normal " please step out of the car, hands on the vehicle" yada that some of us endure while carrying i had already removed my seatbelt. But then...i hear "alright, hold tight" and he walks back to his patrol car.

Puzzled i think to myself did he just not care? did he not hear me?

3 or so minutes later he trots back up to my car and informs me the limit was dropped, and to just observe it from now on. gives me back my papers and turns to leave. Turns quickly on his heel and with a huge grin looks through my window and says "what ya packin?"

bewildered i chuckle a bit and tell him im carrying a Kimber Raptor 1911. Then i get even more of a shock. this face on him :-o followed by a childish "can i hold it!!!!".

so i step out of the car, unholster, and clear the weapon before passing it over to him. he inspects every aspect of it with his stream-light, almost drooling on himself the entire time. and then i get even more of a shock.

he says "I've seen you at the gun club on ferry....you gonna be there tomorrow?" i laugh and say probably. THEN HE REQUESTS TO SHOOT IT! haha so being the nice guy i am i agree to meet him there tomorrow at noon. hes going to bring some .45 WWB, and let me play with his personal AR.

no ticket. no warning. but i think i made a friend haha

haha not above. i've always respected LEO's. Had the meeting a bit earlier, i got there around 9:30. he was already there plinking away. plaid with his M&P AR. let him put about 300 through my Kimber. Tested out my new M&P40 and showed him my old off duty 6906 and 6904. Found out hes 21. father is a gunsmith. good kid. young kid ,first year in LE. good head on him. lets hope the world doesnt spoil him into what some of his superiors have become haha

My only traffic stop interaction when car was not nearly as rewarding as yours. I was stopped by an Oklahoma Highway Patrolman for going 6 mph over the limit on a turnpike and told him I was carrying when I handed him my DL and CHL. He asked if I was carrying right at that moment, and I confirmed that I was. Then he asked what I was carrying. My response was, "Smith & Wesson Model 13." All I got from him was, "Good choice," and a stinking ticket.

On the bright side, he didn't freak out when he found out that I was sitting next to him in his vehicle with a loaded .357 Magnum on my hip.

I was stopped by Fl.Highway Patrol at 330 am on a dark deserted streach of the Fl.turnpike.I told him I was carrying (2 guns & a knife). He had me step out of my truck & disarmed me.
He then asked IF....there was ANY reason he shouldn't ck me out!
I said no....he had me stay at my rear bumper, while he checked!
He returned smiling & said you are a-ok!!Then he asked why I was carrying 2 & my setup.I then asked why he didn't ck my knife,he said...not a problem(BIG mistake)! My RR taillight was out(no ticket).Smiled then said...Sir....thanks for letting me know you were armed...& carrying more than one!Nice young man!
Jim:)

....further proof that a Kimber Raptor is as sensuous as cleavage when trying to skate on a ticket. Don't leave home without one.

+10 agreed!

a while back i had a Star BM with REAL ivory grips and a polished nickel finish. i was driving through a small town speeding like a demon and got flagged by a local LEO.

i informed him that i was armed, he requested i hand him the pistol. so i did.

he runs back to his car, and when he comes back i can see him wiping the gun on his pants to remove his prints.

gets up to the car and says "this is a damn nice firearm son, careful someone may try to take it, hell i want to pull my piece and try to take it"

after laughing and talking glocks and guns a bit, he informed he that he didnt know how to disassemble his glock mags *as new ones can be tight* so i end up on the side of RT 4 mid day, at my trunk, with my cleaning gear out, teaching him how to clean his mags, remove his firing pin ect. *he had only been taught how to field strip it*

no ticket :-D no warning. funny comment on how he speeds when hes in a patrol car though :-)

generally here up nath. all of my LEO encounters are great ones. i've only had a bad one and that was after a AD a few years back. but other than that my local cops are great guys and i enjoy the talks i have with them when i slightly screw up :-)
