Finally bought a Python

I bought mine a few weeks back. I had a 1973 model stolen from my apartment in a daylight burglary in 1977. I really don't know why I never bought another one shortly after my first one was stolen. I was single at the time. I was making pretty good money. I bought and traded other guns. I really wonder why I never bought another way back then. So, a few weeks ago I was reading on here or some other forum about the new Python and reflecting on my loss 40 some years back. Right then I told myself I was going to my favorite gun shop the next day; if they had a 6" Python, it was coming home with me. Well, they did and it did.
I did put the Wilson Combat rear sight on it.(already had one on my Anaconda). And I ordered a set of grips from Deer Hollow. The factory grips look like the original Python grips, but in reality, to me at least, they're not even close. So this is my Python, after 46 years of being Pythonless . And yes I know I bought the gold medallion grips; I like the way they look.

I have no interest in either a new or old Python, as I already own two Colts equivalent to the Python, and in fact are considerably less common. A 6" 3-5-7 and a 4" .357 Trooper. About two months ago I saw a new Colt Python at Rural King. I think it had a price tag on it of about $1600.

Yes, i also own a 6" 3-5-7 from the first year of production. I paid $450 for it at an estate auction back in 2019. Great revolver and it's a keeper, but the desire for a Python has never gone away. It was an itch that had to be scratched. I paid $1,365 for mine incidentally.

Congrats on your purchase! I too have been wanting one of the new ones, since I lost out on a sale of an '81, years ago. I purchased a 4" last January and absolutely love it! Although, I have noticed these new grips do interfere with speedloaders. Anyone else had this issue in the new "2020" models?

I ordered Pachmayr & Hogue grips for my Python. Didn't like the feel of the Hogue's so they went back. My holster from JM Custom Kydex is here and is a perfect fit. Ordered an Allchin micro mount yesterday that will replace the Wilson rear sight with a reflex sight from Holosun. My eyes will be happier this way.
I'm searching for a Dan Wesson 357 to go along with the Python. Two leads so far, so fingers crossed.
