As I said in my introduction thread I have been an avid shooter for many years. Over that time I have had a couple of N frames and a J frame, nothing that held my interest.

Recently I was moved to rescue a stainless .357 at a pawn store, it was pretty nice except for the grips which looked they'd been used as a hammer. I found some Hogue rubber grips that day as well and once installed was immediately taken by the great balance.

Imagine my delight as I began some research and learned my gun was a Model 66 No Dash, well I was bitten and since have picked up a nice 64-3 and an abused 65-2 that I think will clean up all right.

Please bear with my poor cell phone picture.

I thought you were talking about the pre model 14, the pre model 15 & the K 22. But your off to a great start there congrats.

Whew! Well that's a relief. I was beginning to think I was the only K frame nut out there.

Congrats and welcome to the Forum! :)

Very nice group you have there. The K snubs are pretty nice for shooting and pack'n. I'm not the only enabler on the forum. :D

To know what were talking about you need to hold a s&w K38 Combat Masterpiece in 38special with a 4" barrel. This is the Mona Lisa of the K Frames.

You will find out that spending time on this forum will cause grievous harm to your bank account! I purchased a new 17-4 back in 1980 and had been "content" with that one K frame ever since. Until 3 weeks ago, when I attended a local auction and purchased a pristine 14-1. That's when the itch really started. I just purchased a 15-4 that is near mint and will pick it up at my LGS tomorrow morning. Now I am looking at/for a M10, 13, 18, 19 and 48 to round out my K frame collection. Then I can start collecting the pre-model number K frames. Then....

So you see, this a really bad disease you and I have come down with.

4" K Frames, to me, balance better than anything. 5" 1911 is a pretty close second. Everything else is distant! Nice shootin' irons!

Great start!

Wait till you discover N-frames

A Model 17, Model 18, two Model 19's, and a Model 48. It's been a years long addiction with me always looking for someting else to add. Of course there's been two N frames and an L Frame that have distracted me as well.

Congrats on your K frames! I have a 64-3 that I got for a Ruger P89. Came with extras. 1 Smith that many shooters do not discover, is a Model 14. I got 1 (14-3) last August. (what took me so long?) A beautiful tack driver! You WILL want for MORE! It happens! Bob

Very nice trio of the 4" SS S&W K frame evolution, the 4" K frames are personal favorites.
A 4" Model 67 and 4" Model 64 with tapered barrel would fill in the gaps nicely IMO.

If you decide to replace the Model 66 grips look for football cut checkered target GA's preferably with SS washers inside.
