I have finally found what I am looking for. Today I picked up this new in box condition Chiefs Special CS9. This is what I been looking for. Slightly smaller than the 3913 and feels like it was made for my hands. Now to find a nice leather OWB holster - any suggestions?

I use a Milt Sparks VMII for mine and I love that combo. For OWB I like the snap on off holsters made by Alessi and Bulman.
Enjoy, Mike

One of the best CCW weapons around. Might consider getting a pair of Big Dog grips.

I agree-the perfect ccw. (for me at least) one step better would be a Melonite CS9D DAO with night sights.

I had never seen one in person before today. Once I held it I had to buy it. Now I MUST sell my 6946 and Kel Tec P3AT. Got too many guns :(

I also love my CS9.Gould and Goodrich, formerly S+W Holsters, makes a OWB holster specifically for it in leather for a little over 20 dollars.I added Trijicon Night Sights and a DAO Conversion to mine.If the Hogue grips work for you great,if not you should check out Big Dog's Grips...Mike

Don't take this personally, but that is one gun only a mother could love. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and function before form, etc. etc., but yeesh.

On the other hand, I know some people think my much-coveted R8 is ugly too....

Thanks! I will send him an email. As for the looks of the CS9 - I like it, but I know what you mean. I think the CD9 is the perfect compromise between my Kel Tec P3at and the 3913/6946. Conceals very good and I can't even tell it is there :)

Big Dog advised me recently that he is out of the CS-9 Delrin grips and has just a very few of the CS-40/CS-45 grips left.

I carry my CS9 in a Don Hume JIT holster. It's secure and rides above the belt making it very concealable with a pull over shirt or fleece jacket.

Is any of the CS9's barrel exposed in the JIT holster? I have that holster for my P3AT and love it! Will check it out! Is there a special model #?

None of the barrel or slide is exposed with the JIT. I already had the holster to fit my 3913, and the CS9 also fits perfectly.

I have the CS45 great weapon I Carry it a lot Thats all I got to say about that.

I have been looking for a compact 45....now that I know about the Chiefs Specials I might have to get one :)

Can anyone tell me the dimensions on the CS9? I'm looking for height, width and length. Thanks.

According to my handy dandy ruler my CS9 is 6 1/4" long, 5" tall from the top of the Novak sight to the tip of extended mag and 1 3/8" thick to the outside edges of the ambidextrous safety levers (the slide is only 15/16" thick). I agree, it's perfect for CC; lite/compact. I use the Bianchi Model 100 Professional, IWB holster; it rides a little high for some people but the leather between the exposed portion of the pistol and my side makes it very comfortable.

Yup its got a hammer and it was on there when I purchased it. Maybe something SW tried on a few CSs I dont know but I do prefer it over the standard format.

THANKS! Not having any ranges that rent guns to try out, I had to buy several guns and try them out before I found this one :)
