Finally got a tiny gun

Took my Shield out to the range yesterday and put another 100 rounds though it. After reading this thread I tried to keep some of the "issues" in mind while doing so.
Verdict: No issues :)
It ran perfectly the whole time. It's actually the first time I used the 8 round mag as well since I was so excited to go the first trip out I forgot it at home. I was wondering how tight it would be to get that last round in as was mentioned previously, no problem at all.
Slide was super stiff when it was brand new but with 300+ through it I can already feel a difference in it being looser.
Only problem after 100 rounds was that I didn't have another 100 :)

Other firearms in action were a Sig p238 and a brand new H&K VP9, but I'll stay on topic.
Fun day though!

My girl bought a Shield for her first auto, but struggled with it initially, so sold it and replaced it with a Glock 19.

I really liked the Shield, even though I'm not much of a striker-fired guy. It ran well for me, was a pretty soft shooter considering the size, and was an accurate pistol. It fits the hand well, too.

If she wasn't able to get a little more than she originally paid for it (back in the days when they were hard to find), I would've bought it. Kinda still wish I did!

Is that loaded chamber indicator part of CA compliance ? I've picked new Shield 40 couple weeks ago and it has just a regular peep window as a "loaded chamber indicator". Not complaining lol, just curious. I have similar (not as colorful though) on my XDM 5.25 - never bothered me.

California Penal Code section 12126: "As used in this section, a 'chamber load indicator' means a device that plainly indicates that a cartridge is in the firing chamber. A device satisfies this definition if it is readily visible, has incorporated or adjacent explanatory text or graphics, or both, and is designed and intended to indicate to a reasonably foreseeable adult user of the pistol, without requiring the user to refer to a user’s manual or any other resource other than the pistol itself, whether a cartridge is in the firing chamber."

So, no, your chamber indicator is not California compliant. What you see with the California compliant Shield (Rastoff's photo) is the minimum. California will reject guns that deviate from the statutory language, e.g., visible, but no accompanying text or graphics.
