Have been on Cabela's waiting list for a Shield 9mm for about 2 months now and got the call today that they were in and I could pick mine up. Best part is that it's at the actual retail price and not the $700+ I saw one for at the show last weekend.

Has anyone else been on any waiting lists and starting to get yours? Curious if S&W is starting to finally catch up at all with the demand.

Regardless, anxious as hell to finally get it and break it in this weekend.

Wow... your Cabela's has a waiting list? I spoke with one of the reps at ours last weekend and expressed my interest in an M&P Shield and he told me he hadn't seen one since they came out. In fact, every place I have called/stopped by has told me a similar story. I wish I only had to wait 2 months.

I even called to try and get on a list or order, they said you had to be at the store to do anything, could not do anything over the phone or on-line.

Congrats!

Keep the faith peeps and just keep hitting LGSs as much as you can

Another thing you can do is "like" as many gun shops as you can on Facebook, especially local shops

This how I got my Shield 40 a week ago and a 9 is for my taking if I want it just due to seeing posts on FB

Was pleasantly surprised by the list. Like others have mentioned, I just started calling the number for any LGS or big box outdoor I could find within a reasonable distance. I live in Iowa and when I spoke to a lady at the store in Nebraska, I wasn't surprised when she said they didn't have any but she would add my name to the waiting list. To be honest I thought I'd never hear from them again.

What's even better, I received a call from the same lady about halfway through my wait asking if I still wanted to be on the list.

Have to say that I'm extremely impressed with the Cabela's customer service through this process.

And for anyone else still waiting for one, I did ask the gal today if I could get two and she laughed. If I could have snagged the extra one I was going to offer up here on the forum.

Anyway. Patience prevailed this time and so glad I didn't pay $700.

They may have changed their policy given the more recent events/demand since I got added to the list. It's worth a shot (no pun intended), call the Cabela's in Omaha and ask for the specialty guns/ordering. Cost of the gun plus $25 shipping to your local FFL when they get them in stock.

PM me and I'll give you the gal's name to ask for.

Well I am very pleased to find you had such a good experience Good luck to you with your new Shield! I have to admit I am not too surprised. I've always been treated right at Cabela's and will continue to shop there. I just wish they could get me a Shield too! :)

I was on two lists since Oct. Got the call just after Christmas if I still wanted a 9mm and grabbed it up for $449 out the door.
BUT I got another call yesterday from the other LGS who's list I was on and they said they had a couple and are going through their list...price was 439.00 but I passed cuz I have one! ( and No money). So maybe they are starting to become more plentiful.

You can be glad it wasn't the Cabela's in Kansas City. Their customer service sucks. They are not rude. But they are completely unhelpful.

Agreed. And I want to follow up my original posts to say that I within 2 days of getting the call, I received a card in the mail from the gal at Cabela's. It was a hand-written thank you card for making the purchase. In this day and age and from a big box outdoor store, this was the last thing I expected. Cannot say enough about what a great purchase experience this was.

If anyone from Cabela's monitors this forum...a HUGE KUDOS to the folks at your La Vista, NE store. Thank you!

It does seem like S&W is getting more Shields in the pipeline.
I've come SO close to getting a 40 in since Christmas. My LGS
called while I was out of town, got my machine, & went to the
next name on their list. I was on the Forum, & somebody posted
that Bud's had them again & managed to snag one.:) Of course,
my LGS called me two days later to tell me they had another one
in for me.:( I've got a few more days before the 40 from Bud's
ships, & to say I'm eagerly anticipating its arrival is putting it
VERY mildly!

Well, I've been on a waiting list for a few months now, at a LGS, but was lucky enough to buy one online this past week (not for the gouged price). I bought it last Wednesday and picked it up from my local FFL on Friday. Went to the range on Sunday and sent just over 100 rounds through it. Love this firearm.
