Loooong wait for this guy! Guessing S&W making a lot more CORE's and not to many Pro 5" barrel non-CORE models lately. Arrived at my FFL yesterday.

I already have the APEX kit waiting and will install today and take it for a maiden voyage to the departments basement range.

I hope and pray my 40 Pro is everything my 9 Pro is!! Now if I can only find high cap mags!

Range report and photo's! Let us know how it shoots. My next M&P is going to be a 40. I see 40 in stores all the time. Not so on 9mm or 45acp. enjoy.

Went the same route you did. Got the 5" Pro in 9mm and loved it so i got the .40 cal Pro with the 5" barrel. You won't be disappointed. They are both GREAT shooters with good stock triggers that only get better with time. Anxious to hear how yours is with the Apex kit installed. Keep us posted.

Update: Installed the APEX kit. Second one and I must say these are very well machined. Took it to shoot for the first time. Put 100 rounds through it. The 9 Pro I have is pretty darm accurate and I'm very happy with it. Can't say for certain yet, but using 165gr HST (our cop carry round) I was VERY impressed.

Now I say the jury is still out as I needed to make a few ajustments with the trigger. The polymer on the 40 has a few mold markings that may be causing me a little issue. Will take apart 2 nite and check it out. Nothing that is S&W QC issue as polymer molds are not CNC precision tolerances.

BUT I was getting 3 and sometimes 4 touching eachother and then a flyer. Happend a few times so there is some great promise here. This is offhand at 12 yard line so it's not like 25yards but still I was like WOW. The only other time that has happened to me was with a girl I know and her Kimber short barrel carry pistol. Same 12yard line put 5 basically into each other....you know one of those groups where you are scared to take the next shot!!! because you'll screw it up!

So, very pleased with the Pro series. For the money so far have to say, even with the expense of the Apex kits, they are worth it.

Congrats on the 40 pro bud. I picked up a 9 pro 5" a couple of months ago because I couldn't find a 40 pro 5". It is by far my favorite of the four M&P's I have. I wanted the 40 because my department issue gun is the M&P 40, but the 9mm is so soft shooting I don't regret the purchase at all. I put Trijicon HD night sights on mine along with a Surefire X300 Ultra and it is now my defacto home defense gun.

Took it to the basement range at work yesterday am. Fired 100 rounds. Trigger smoother but somethings getting hung up on me. Shooting rapid excellent results. Slowly pulling the trigger and awaiting reset; at times it will not reset but if I let trigger go all the way out (as in removing my finger from it and come back to it) it resets.

More adjustments. And it looks like the mold marks protrude a bit much behind the trigger possibly not allowing the full pull. Will be checking and gettign back to you.

In the meantime the 9mm with the same trigger is fantastic. I have 1300 rounds through that one now.
