Well after quite sometime I was finally able to get to the range Wed. & shoot the Shield. Nice little gun, put about 50 or so rounds through it, would have done more, but it was hot as blazes, & shot some other guns as well. I'm happy to report it had no issues whatsoever, my wife liked it as well :D. Posted is a pic of my first 6 shots at about 5-7 yards, with two shots touching, (and a pic of my sights painted with Glonation). I'm happy with it to say the least. Will put more down the pipe when this heat wave breaks. For those on the fence on getting one, I say go for it when & if you can find one, or wait until the fever dies down.

WHAT????

Are you telling us this is the first time you have SHOT a Shield?

We have followed you posting about the Shield being an excellent gun for over a month!

You prompted everyone to 'vote up' the Shield's ratings on other websites!

Your user name is even Shield related!

But this is the FIRST time you even shot the thing????? :p

What is in the Shield KoolAid that makes a person go head over heals for a gun they haven't even pulled the trigger on???

I really need to stop and consider posts I read from now on, and think that there is a chance that the person touting a gun or holster or round of ammo may have never had any experience whatsoever with the item. Sorry folks, this one just blows my mind....

Oh, and congrats on enjoying your Shield. You could have been like that other guy who sold his other guns to buy one, then fired it a couple times and hated it and put it up for sale right away....

I thought the same thing.

In any case, at least you got it to the range finally. :p Did you shoot any defense ammo through it to make sure it functions reliably before carrying it?

yea man, I thought you already had this thing for a while and have shot it. hhmm. I could have sworn I saw post where you stated you have though maybe not. Any who, glad you finally got to shoot it. I thought about making one of these reports but i'd be like 2 months behind making one.

I shot some Hornady Critical Defense 115 Grain & was what the pic was with, shot the good stuff first. BTW in several different posts I stated that I had not got to shoot it yet, but still liked it on several other aspects. I wasn't worried that I wouldn't like it. And felt pretty sure it would work OK. So yeah, maybe the Shield Kool-Aid is a bit strong LOL :p. Besides if it does have any issues S&W will fix it for a lifetime! As most of us here, I think S&W has a real winner on their hands, and have made me become a fan of the M&P line :D.

WOW... Nice job on the painting your sights! What steps did you use! I am thinking about doing that to my M&P9!

Thanks! :) I just used a toothpick, but first clean the sights with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, and let dry. A second dab of paint may be needed after they fully dry. Better to not get carried away at first, if it overflows the hole it's hard to get it looking right. The paint thickens up pretty fast, and one little bottle could do hundreds of sights. I plan to cover with clear nail polish to add durability and some shine.

Cool thanks for the advise! I am going to give that a try.

So with the gold paint. Did you just use nail polish with remover?

Actually it is some gold craft paint (in the 3 in tall bottles) like what my wife uses. It worked like a charm and clean up was with water & rubbing alcohol. Seems durable so far.

Your Welcome! I know it's not as good as having night sights, but it works for me fight now. I hope someday soon to put a set of TFO's on it.

This may be the greatest post I have ever read! Thanks for being real.

Well, I guess if I'd had known that posting my first range time with my Shield was going to draw such ire, I wouldn't have bothered. I've been around handguns long enough to know if I like something, even if I haven't shot it. Sorry to be such a disappointment, but the Shield isn't, and that's all that matters to me, & BTW I don't mind getting a ribbing, :p just saying...

:D Well with your user name and then all the hype and support you posted about your Shield for sooooo long..... Holster talk and carrying it and on and on..... Then we find out you never fired the thing...

You gotta admit, it's kind of funny. ;)

I've had mine for a couple of months and have sent 600 rounds down range without so much as a hickup. It ate everything I fed it.Got a JM Custom owb holster and it's now, imho, the best concealed weapon I've ever carried. It's accurate, reliable, has a decent trigger, and is comfortable to carry. I've been carrying for 22 years and have carried just about everything at one time or another. I had settled, for the last 15 years or so, on Glocks and S&W J-Frames. I've been waiting on Glock to introduce a single stack 9mm, but they dropped the ball and Springfield, XDs 45, and S&W picked it up. Thank you S&W, you hit it out of the park with the Shield.

Yeah, I guess so LOL :D But ya know I like it more than any gun I've bought for a good while, and yes, even before I got to actually shoot it. I guess I felt lucky to have gotten one early. Now like most everyone else finding the elusive 8rd mag :p
