dog229 here,
i am going to add a red dot to my 17 and before i do does anyone know of a holster that would allow me to carry it with this addition. My choice of what red dot hasn't been made yet but my mount is the b square that is made for the early 17 that is not d&t for a mount. i have seen holster pics online that show a slot made for the scope or red dot to fit into when carrying the revolver so i do no they are out there.
Also, has anyone added a set of pachmyer american classic wood grips to their 17. I think they are no longer available but i know where they are two sets brand new in a store for $34. Nice combo of wood and rubber and also does the target hammer work with this grip without hitting at full cock?
thanks guys!!

You will probably have to either have a holster made specifically or cut a slot out to clear the mount. The only one I have made was a TC shoulder holster for a scoped contender. I have used a open front competition holster for red dot equipped guns, for competition, but they would not make good carry holsters. My experience with the B Square mount was not real satisfactory, as it either came loose or it sheared off the original mounting screw and required the screw to be drilled out. The only recommendation I can give on a Red Dot for this is the smaller the better, and I would give the Burris Fast Fire a hard look. I'm not familiar with those grips so can't help with that.

If you can find an older "Cup Challenge" holster that was made I think by Rogers that was used in the 80's for combat revolver shooting, it would work for you I have used mine for a 6" 686 also K frames with bull barrels, it is adjustable and holds the gun by clamping on the cylinder, the front is completly open and the hoster covers the trigger. If you will PM me with your email I can send you some pictures to show what it looks like. Jeff
