Ive finally gotten around to finishing what Ive been wanting to do, which is give my 15-22 more of a typical ar-15 look such as a shorter hand guard, a front sight tower, and flash hider. I took off the hand guard and cut two holes worth of length off and then used a dremel tool to cut out the recessed area that the hand guard cap fits into. I also used the dremel to sand and polish the cut areas to make it nice and smooth. I basically followed the instructions of this guy that had done all that before:

That was the part I was most nervous about because you have to take it very slow in order to take out just the right amount.
Next I added the front sight to the barrel. I had gotten this front sight from midway that clamps on instead of having to be pinned:
JP Enterprises Gas Block with Adjustable A2 Front Sight AR-15 Standard Barrel .750" Inside Diameter Stainless Steel Matte - MidwayUSA
The only challenge with that is that it is made for a .75 diameter barrel and the 15-22 is a .67. So I bought a thin sheet of aluminum from lowes that is .025" thick and cut a piece to use as a spacer around the barrel and inside the sight clamp.
Only other thing was I sent the barrel to Belt_Fed to get threaded for the flash hider, which turned out great.
This is how it all turned out.
