Finishing a bad book.

Kindle

My memory has become deplorable, and reading from my Kindle, book, has been disturbing. I have hundreds of books stored on it. The last three books were lost before the last chapter ended. Needless to say, I've turned the Kindle Off, and I'm now reading actual books only.

An actual book that I've started, and stopped several times, is G. Gordon Liddy's, only novel; entitled, Out of Order. The reason for my starting, and stopping, to read it is; This book is very complex, and I've been repeatedly, interrupted, and lost the plot. I don't want to have another, book detracting my attention, while I read this superbly written book. Liddy knows of what he writes, and writes it well. This book is in a class all its own.

I had one of the early Kindles, loved reading books that I downloaded. Took it with me everywhere I thought I might have to kill some time, loved it. I took it to the dentist's office and had it in hand when I went in the back room for Xrays. Needless to say, I set it down on the counter, had the Xrays done, had some other stuff checked out. Went home and the next time I turned the thing on it was scrambled...I should have known better. I now have one of the later Kindles that allows you to read in daylight or nighttime with backlit screen, love it and read practically everything off it.

You fellas with the Kindle complaints do know that they remain in your Amazon library forever so you can always download 'em again if they go missing from your Kindle device, I hope.

After about 4 chapters if it has failed to catch my attention it goes to the Kindle dungeon.
Atlas Shrugged was the one book I forced myself to read even though it was painfully slow reading for most of the book. Glad I finished it and then read Fountian Head.

in a moment i can tell if i will stay with a book.
i don't finish a lot of stuff. books are no exception around here.

One of my nightmare books was "Catcher in The Rye", I hated it freshman year of high school, and then had to suffer through it again Junior year. "Atlas Shrugged" was just plain torture, as was "Moby Dick".
I would rather read some shlocky WWII or Sci-fi book 1000 times than read any of them again. Out of the 3 above, I would take "Catcher", but all three were just awful.

My "time to let this one go" is if I'm tired and I can't remember what I just read minutes before. "Who the hell is that?" If that happens, it's best to let it go. I have little patience anymore for books, TV, and movies that in my younger days I would have sat through for "The good parts".
