Firefox update

Tip:

If you want the bookmarks at the top where you can access them with one click place your cursor (arrow) on the black tab bar - not on a tab, but rather a blank area of the bar. Click the right mouse button. You will see a few options including menu bar. Click on menu bar so that a check mark is placed next to it. Now your bookmarks can be accessed easily by clicking the word Bookmarks at the top of your screen.

Well it now looks like a new FF is in my computer. So far so good. At least as I type this things do move faster. (Hope it continues)

I see a couple things changed around. The biggest one I note is the refresh button is now on the left instead of the middle.

My favorite places are where they have always been for years, the first two inches of the left side of the screen.

Time will tell how well things work out as for the most part I have very limited computer skills.

I've used Firefox since it was Netscape and am liking what I'm seeing with this newest version. Although, I have not spent much time learning it.

Regarding Bookmarks, I always had a Bookmark toolbar and that carrier over to the new version. Marked in screenshot.

On the screenshot I also marked a Star icon with a Bar under it. It's located to the right of the Search Box. Clicking that star will show all of your bookmarks.

Looking at mine where the red arrow is, I don't have that, I have nothing to the left of the vertical lines.

Click the horizontal lines, then customize. You can then show the star with the line under it which is the bookmarks menu. Then from there, check "show bookmarks toolbar."

Got it, thanks!

I probably have 125 bookmarks organized in various categories such as News, Weather, Shopping, Guns, Dogs, etc. The most used bookmarks get placed in the "Toolbar" category, and appear on the toolbar. I play with the name properties that appear on the toolbar in order to keep only one row of bookmarks appearing on screen. With the upgrade to 57 I had to change the title of Google Maps from G-Maps to Maps in order to keep from having overflow on that toolbar.

I haven't figured out the Categories thing yet.

That somewhat makes sense but there's too many terms that my analog brain doesn't understand. I searched Youtube and they have around 200 videos on the new Firefox, again most of them are a foreign language to me.

I think I have the new update to a point where I can use it, it does seem faster.

When I click on a You Tube video I get only green and pink colors???????

I did a search of Firefox help and found this answer:

Quick Fix:
click the three-bar menu top right --> click options or;
paste about: preferences into your URL bar search. with no space before the p

Once there, scroll down to Performance/Hardware acceleration and toggle that off.

I hope it helps

My main complaint with 57 is that No-Script and TabMix Plus don't work anymore. I am using other substitutes for No-Script (not as good IMO) but can't find anything like TabMix offered.

Essentially the old versions allowed too much access to the innards making a possibility of compromise or hijacking too likely. The new version and add-ons are supposed to prevent this.

Here is a link to help finding compatible add-ons as well as a link to a security enabled FireFox version that can still run older add-ons.

Anyone else have a "issue" with the comments not loading on You Tube?(not that many comments are worthwhile!)

I am not a You Tube subscriber but any video I ever looked at had comments, now it just spins and never loads?? The video is fine.??

I searched and go a much of wacko you tubers but no answer.

Is this a FireFox thing or You tube??

Could it be that JAVA is now gone??
