Have a pin & spring on order, but does all the internal parts need t be removed to replace the pin? I know you drift the cross pin out, then need to push the bushing out from the rear. Can you reach the rear of the bushing without removing everything? While I'm familiar with more current S&W's, this is the first top break I've needed to work on.

Hi i change one in my 38 Lemon Squeezer 4th model the cross pin came out fairly easy then the bushing came out with the spring and firing pin no problems at all. Theres a little tension on the spring so it should just pop out. The spring sits between the firing pin and the bushing thats it. You can't access it no other way it all comes out with the bushing sometimes if it don't come out freely just pull the trigger and it will pop out sooner or later.. Good Luck ...

Thanks. I hope my bushing comes out that easy. I plan to replace the spring as well as the pin. Funny how it broke, with the action open, I cycled the action, and the tip flew out the hole. Don't know how much broke off, as it is lost somewhere in the carpet. However, when I hold my finger over the hole, I can't feel the pin when the action is cycled. Guess a 1921 gun part was a little brittle. When replaced I think I will take it out for a test. Other than the finish is thin, it's in pretty decent shape.

Hi very nice Sqeezer its in excellent shape there a blast to shoot i also have one 2nd issue from 1907. I never had any issues with that one yet knock on wood. On my 38 sqeezer i used a small finishing nail that was smaller in diameter then the roll pin the flat end of coarse LOL and drifted the pin out i thought it was going to be tough coming out but it wasn't . Just make sure that the bushing lines up proper when you put the roll pin back in is all its a fairly simple task. Springs & firing pins are easy to get i,m still looking for a bushing for mine when i got it someone tried to drill the firing pin out to make inoperable i put a new firingpin in it i odered it from Numrich Gun Parts but they were all out of bushings the gun still shoots but it needs a bushing.Enjoy and have fun shooting your gun...
