As, I previously stated in another thread I am about to purchase my first MP. I know I want a 9mm. My dilemma is deciding on a compact or full size. One thing is, I do have a fairly large hand. However, I did handle both a compact and full size today. The compact still seem to fit my hand well.

I would like to be able to conceal carry the weapon and prefer IWB. My question is does anyone here conceal carry their full size IWB? If so, is it easy to conceal? And is it very bulky?

One more thing, with the compact is the velocity and accuracy going to be impacted drastically with the shorter barrel?

I have carried the full sized M&P concealed, and it works with the right holster and good belt. Longer pistols tend to not sag outward as much thanks to the longer barrel going deeper into the pants, which is a slight plus. Of course, there is added weight with the full sized pistol.
Generally, I conceal carry my M&P compact, and it works very nicely, too. I prefer the Kydex type holster. One of the holsters in the picture has the double belt loops to prevent sagging and tilting, the other keeps the pistol hidden properly as well. Its wider belt clip is effective is keeping the pistol positioned.
I am not a ballistics expert, but you should not see much of a velocity or accuracy reduction with the compact. 124 grain +p hollow point ammo will fill the bill with either pistol size. The M&P handles +P just fine. Felt recoil with +P is not a problem in handling for follow-up shots.

I'm not sure what a "full size" might be. This is what I have. Just marked M&P9. Not the most concealable pistol, but it will work.

A holster like the Minotaur or Crossbreed will handle it well and keep it close to your body.

Are you serious? You're really not sure what a full size might be?

The S&W website is sporadic with the nomenclature. The few listed as "full size" looks just like an ordinary M&P to me.

Well, I wondered because I didn't see any barrel listed for a .40 as being longer than 4.25". Does the Pro Series require a different size holster than the Full Size?

its full size. :)

==========

I have the Fullsize 9, as well as the Compact 45.
I can carry the 9 in my Crossbreed, but prefer the concealability of the Compact.
The butt length and dovetail actualy does make a difference in concealblity.
my 2 cents...

I also have a full size .40 and a compact .45. I prefer the .45 for every day carry.

i have a 5" MP9 pro for competitions, but carry a MP9c IWB using a Galco TR474 kydex. just did the Apex duty/carry trigger kit on the compact. it's sweet:)

speer gold dot +P 124 grain "short barrel" (product code 23611) is advertised at 1150 fps at the muzzle in a 3.5" barrel. not too shabby.

i have big hands also, but i'm using the smallest backstrap on both of my MP9s. i'm mostly a 1911 shooter.

So just buy the compact and use the longer full size magazines with grip extensions for range shooting! You get the best of both worlds!

I recently changed form a "full size" HKP30 to my current M&P9c for carry reasons. As much as I liked the P30, it was too cumbersome to carry every day. I carry my new compact every day and I actually shoot better with it than I did with the P30. My philosophy is that if you don't carry a firearm because it is too uncomfortable or large, then what good does its accuracy count for? Also, you can always use the "full size" magazine in the compact frame with an extension. I, too, have large hands and the M&P compact is very comfortable to me. Good luck with your decision...

My 2 cents, if your plan is to use the gun for conceal carry get the compact. If not, get the full size.
