First minor issue

Well I've had my Shield .40 for over a year now and never had an issue until today. Being on vacation from work I've been carrying ever day, as I pretty much always do when not at work, but living in central Florida the weather has been hot and muggy. This morning I went to drop the mag and noticed the mag release once pushed would not return to normal position and of course would not hold the magazine in place when reinserting. Not a big deal for I was able to correct with a little REM oil but I was wondering if this was a commend issue or just that I sweat like a pig in this Florida heat.

Regular maintenance and cleaning of your firearm will correct this issue.

Go the extra step. Take the mag release out and clean out the hole. Make sure there is no dirt or debris in there. It would suck to have to do an emergency reload and not be able to seat the new mag.

For the record, this is the first I've heard of this.

I pocket carry a Shield 40 and of course there is more chance of picking up debris, lint, etc. in a pocket. Monthly I pull the mag catch out and clean it and the opening. I disassemble the mags and clean the tube. spring, and follower. I do not oil any of these items as this is just an attractant to catch more debris. Since I shoot more often than once a month, the gun itself get cleaned more often. I have never had a problem in over a year of everyday carry of my Shield.

Yeah I hear ya, I do clean my guns often but this is the first time I've experienced this in my 21 years of owning firearms. As I mentioned I'm not super worried about cuz I believe it's due to my sweat but was only wondering if anyone else had the same issue. Thanks for everyone's replies.
