I cleaned and lubed it well when I bought it about 2 weeks ago. Since then, I did 300 dry fires using snap caps and moving the slide through its full range of motion.

Yesterday was the first chance I had to get to the range. Put 50 rds. thru the new Bodyguard 2.0.
It was FLAWLESS. It handles well, is comfortable to shoot and when shooting it, it somehow feels bigger than it is.

I still can't get 12 rds. in the 12 rd. mag., even using an UpLULA, but that's not a big issue to me. I suspect it will loosen up with use.

The Bodyguard 2.0 was so much fun to shoot that I will probably buy 380 dies and projectiles and add 380 to the list of calibers I hand load.

After 10 months I still cannot get 12 in the 12-round mag or 10 in the 10-round mag.

I'm waiting for MagGuts to release their +2 kit. :)

I'm happy to read that you got a nice BG2 out of the box. S&W may have re-evaluated their quality control and design options?

I reload .380, simply to have cheaper practice anno. Glad you like it. There are some other people on the forum looking at those. Oh, is the magazine supposed to hold 12 or is 11 in the mag and one in the chamber???

I think it's supposed to be 10 + 1 and 12 + 1.
Tight mags don't bother me because (1) I associate strong springs with reliability and (2) I usually run all my mags minus 1 of max.

I just bought one with safety which I do NOT use. Cleaned lubed and off to the range. Shoots 1st one hundred rounds flawlessly, though like many others I found it shooting left of two inch dots even at five yards. I am an advanced shooter/instructor, and worked in trigger/grip but still could not reliably correct it. Any luck with aftermarket rear sights folks? Also I was able to load both mags to capacity using the Uplula but 12th round necessitated standing over it and applying MUCH pressure. Thanks in advance.

I don't see a need to do this. It is only a "12 round magazine" because Smith says so. And that is clearly not true. Many have reported that they either could not get 12 rounds in or if they did it affected the function of the pistol. Some even have trouble with 11 rounds. I consider this to be a 10 round magazine. It loads 10 rounds easily and the function of the pistol is not affected.

Smith makes claims for magazine capacity as a marketing ploy. That should not affect how you use your pistol.

In my experience, leaving it loaded for several weeks will give proper spring set and then it will be much easier to load. It IS indeed a twelve round magazine.

Leaving the mags loaded, 'till hell freezes solid, will not help capacity. It might make loading them easier, but some mags simply have a tolerance issue. Other 10 rounders will hold the advertised capacity, and lock in against a closed slide. Go figure.

Congratulations. I just bought one myself from the local Academy Sports and like yours has the ambi thumb safety.
Took mine to the gun range Thursday and it shot great. I’m a lefty, no issue with it shooting either left or right of the target. I’m pretty happy with it.

Edit to add: I never add the “plus one” in my handguns because it feels like it adds too much pressure in the slide. That’s just me thinking weird.

SECOND Range Trip with New Bodyguard 2.0, another 50 rds. which brings the total up to 100.
On its first outing I went to a friend's all steel range.
This time I went to the range I pay to belong to and where paper targets can be hung.

The target below is from 21 feet, freehand, mostly double-taps, all shots with both eyes open.
Shooting slow with one eye closed, I could certainly do better.

Only 6 of the 50 shots are unacceptable in my scoring. The 2 shots high up in 7 ring are missed head shots.
I was shooting the Bodyguard low on many shots, especially on rapid second shots.
I attribute this to the fact that my primary gun is a Glock 26, and I shoot it a lot.

I am not pretending that this is a great target. However, this target shows that this Bodyguard and I probably have a future together, and with a little practice we could be good together.

My first BG2 range trip was a horror show! Spoiler- it's all good now. Turns out of the 3 ammo brands I brought, it HATES Fiocchi, unreliable with Norma and good with Lawman. Yes I cleaned/lubed prior. Ran 2 mags(22rds) of each starting with Norma which had several fail to feeds. Fiocchi was a hot mess multiple ftf's per mag in fact I gave up on each mag. Had a big wtf moment, was this gun fkd or what?! Then Lawman- perfect thru 4 mags. Went home feeling bummed, cleaned lubed real good and spent time polishing the *two* feed ramps with a dremel. Picked up a bunch of other brand ammo- Rem, S&B, Magtech,, PMC, Blazer and Winchester which is flat point and all ammo so far is fmj. Next trip two mags of each and all ran flawless. Yehaa! Third trip I finished up all that ammo and again gtg, 300+rds. Feeling better I tried the Norma& Fiocchi and still multiple ftf's mostly Fiocchi but just a few Normas enough so neither will see my BG2 again. Side note, my lcp2 eats everything no issues but I shoot the BG a lot better, it feels better in my hand and shoots softer. Accuracy for me is just fine putting good groups at 7 yds on 5" reactive targets and still getting on those targets at 10 yds. It's not a bullseye gun and not meant to be. The mags- yes tough to load at first but now load easy with a Uplula. Guess I'll need to get some time with some hp defensive ammo, will let you know how that goes but fmj in 380 may work for me, better penetration but that's another story....

KarlA and others:
I have only 100 rds. through my Bodyguard 2.0, and all have been flawless and I'd say accurate.
All 100 were MAGTECH 95 gr. FMJ. Got 200 for $22/50 rds., a fair price these days.
They might work for you.

I still need to test/prove this Bodyguard 2.0 a bit more and put at least a box of my intended carry ammo (at present undecided) through it before I trust it for carry, but I am optimistic about the particular specimen that I was fortunate to obtain.

I have 50 yrs. of shooting experience and 25 years of carry experience, but I am NEW to 380 ACP.

380 is a bit of a different world for me. I typically carry Glocks (9mm or 45), which are the most reliable and least ammo sensitive semi-auto pistols in my experience, or revolvers which are wonderfully ammo nonsensitive. (Note: I am not just a Glock fanboy. My confidence in Glocks is not without reason. A few days after my 21st birthday I bought my first carry gun, a S&W 469. It is a great gun and is my wife's bedside gun to this day, 37 years later. But based on a lot of experience, I trust my Glock semi-autos more than anything other than a revolver. My S&W 686 has 30-plus years of nightstand duty.)

I am hoping that my Bodyguard 2.0 can become a trusted BUG and a primary for those situations when any printing is unacceptable.

Good luck finding ammo that works for you. And please report here about what ammo works and does not for you.

I purchased my Bodyguard 2.0 early last week and got to the range Friday night. I'm either very lucky or, S&W has improved their quality with May production guns. I decided to give my initial trip a worst case test so, I didn't break the gun down or clean it. Just loaded the 10 and 12 round mags up and put 50 trouble free rounds through it. The two targets are the first two mags put through the pistol. This 2.0 definitely shoots to point of aim.

The closer group is carefully aimed fire at 7 yards while the wider group target is rapid fire as fast as I could pull he trigger for two 5 round groups at about 15 feet.

I'm coming from a Ruger LCP Max which I've been pocket carrying for about two years. While I liked the Ruger fine, I love the BG2.0. It fits my hand much better and doesn't punish my trigger finger after 50 rounds.

As for getting 10 and 12 rounds in the mags............I was able to do it using the Lula but the last round was super tight. All-in-all this is a great gun and will be my pocket carry gun for the foreseeable future.
