Nope, we were specifically discussing the issues with loose ejectors that can cause failure to eject. Turns out his is fine, but it's a known issue.

UPDATE trip 2

OK so i got a chance to hit the range today again with the 15-22.
I used the same ammo, Federal automatch 325 ct whitebox. I cleaned the gun before and did not lube it so much just o drop on each rail and used a oily patch and rubbed on the bolt. Just enough to make a sheen. Rifle performed MUCH better this time. not nearly as many FTE as last time. still got a few here and there and most at the end of the box. I did get one near the beginning of th ebox and acouple in mid of the box. I did not wipe down the bolt or anything during the session. Just went right through the 325 rounds. So, not such good ammo? my rifle just doesn't like this ammo? could ammo cause FTE or is it usually the rifle that causes it? I did notice the ammo has kind of a waxy feel to it compared to an oily feel of the geco ammo (which i have not shot yet) has. Any thoughts?

I have a friend who shoots a few 22's. He found CCI and Remington Golden bullets to be the best. Last week I walked into a gun shop. "Semper Fi Guns" Said hey you guys got a bucket of bullets, Remington? Guy tells another guy to check in back, walks out with 1 bucket. I said how many can I get? Answer
We just unloaded the truck and this is the only one. My friend is happy I happened to stop in.

It may not be your rifle. I've had the same problems(FTE) with the Federal Automatch that I have purchased within the last 6 months. Had the FTE problems on my 22s using the Federal Automatch. Just using them on my bolt gun now. No issue with the ones that I purchased awhile back.
 
ok that makes me feel much better. i did purchase this ammo about a month ago. I love this gun and it is so much fun to shoot! i will try some Geco ammo next trip and see how that goes. Thanks for your input. much appreciated
 
Try some Norma TAC22. I get about 1 FTF per thousand. I consider that excellent. Also, keep the magazines clean at the top. They will get powder buildup inside the upper lip that can cause mis-feeds. I clean mine every time I clean the gun after shooting.
 
thanks for the input. I will keep an eye out for that brand, though with the way things are now i think im going to be limited to whatever i can get my hands on:( Also i did not have a single FTF
with the federal. Only FTE. bolt would close down on the brass:confused:
 
Check to be sure your extractor is running tight to the bolt. I was plagued with FTE but after some gentle tweaks the problem disappeared and never came back.

This ^ and also the ejector, which seems more the culprit of FTE's.
 
UPDATE

Hit the range today 500 rounds flawless :D I used geco ammo this time and aside from it being rather greasy making it slippery to load, the rifle ran flawless. :D Even the range master came over to see what ammo i was using because he said he was watching me shoot waiting to see how many flaiures i got. So it is not my rifle but the ammo (federal automatch 325ct) that was the problem. Now, where can i score some more geco:rolleyes:

The Geco is top quality rimfire ammo. Don't be afraid to try CCI Standard Velocity and CCI Mini Mags. They are high quality ammo, and my 15-22 loves them. Mine also likes Remington Golden Bullets. My Marlin 60 won't cycle them, but the Smith eats them up like candy.
 
The "greasy" ammo seems to like the 15-22's. Also, you will find the rifle cleans up a lot quicker.
 
Yes i was very happy :D came home and ordered another 1000 rounds. would like to try some cheaper ammo too if i can get my hands on it. Although $0.10 a round doesnt seem bad, from what ive been able to find in stock. knowing my gun loves the Geco and does just OK with the federal automatch, is there any others you would reccomend i try? I know CCI but havnt been able to find any in stock since day one. Thanks guys!! Love hearing from others who actually have the same rifle as me, as opposed to just looking at general reviews. You guys rock
 
I had the same problem with the Federal automatch ammo. I read up a little but on the ejector problem and tweaked it some and haven't had any FTE since. I have noticed with the Federal automatch, since I adjusted the ejector, some shells eject far and some just barely fell out of the gun. I tried some CCI mini mags and holy cow! they eject as far or farther than my regular 5.56 AR15, so if you can find any mini mags try them im sure you'll like them.

what did you do to adjust the ejecter? did you just bend it up a bit? i did see a video on that but mine looked to be good. Thanks for the info noscivic.
 
Yep i bent it up a bit. There is a thread on here that showed some pictures of the ejector in the ejection port. I noticed that mine was sitting a little down, compared to the one in the picture, so I just bent it up so that the ejector was parallel with the lower edge of the ejection port and closer to the bolt. I also watched the video but its hard to tell what the guy does, i would rather look at pictures and study what the "before and after" looks like. Here is the thread
