Bought it yesterday (9mm, $399 + tax. Test fire date 5/3/2012) and got to take it out today.Put 50 rounds of Speer Lawman and 30 rounds of Blazer FMJ though it. Not a hiccup and scary accurate. Thanks to those who explained in an earlier thread what type of sight picture to use (sight over desired POI). The mags were a bi@ch to load (thank god for my Glock mag loader). Another 50 rounds like this and it will replace my 442 as my EDC.
1 question: I saw a review online where the person mentioned that S&W will be using the Shield trigger in all other M&P models. I know the Shield trigger is more "Glock-like" than previous M&Ps I tried (too mushy with soft reset). Does anyone know if these new triggers have started being installed in other M&Ps, and if so, when? Might be enough to get me into a M&Pc.
Thanks.

Loading mags can be hard on the thumb and the Glock mag loader does help. If you want a really GOOD mag loader, try out a Butler Creek UpLULA. Works on the mags of my 1911, Glocks, LC9, SiG P220, M&P Shield, etc. and makes loading that last couple of rounds a breeze...

May I ask where you bought your Shield? I'm trying to track one down in that price range. Or did you buy local?

Baccusboy: I bought it at a gun shop in CT. They had a stack of Shield boxes that must've just arrived. While I was there doing my paperwork, 2 others sold.

After reading several posts on here about the Shield I decided to go out and get one for myself. Bought one in 9mm. Took it to range over the weekend and put probably 120 rounds through it, mostly 115gr Winchester FMJ. It was flawless. No problems for me, my wife or my sister or her husband. Very happy with purchase so far. Trigger is just awesome, short stroke and very crisp. Easy to find break over point. Pretty light pull. I did notice it is a little louder than most of my other 9's and kicks a little more due to guns light weight. All in all pretty nice.

I feel the same way. I can't wait to take it back out later this week for a little more "break in". I know this has been said before, but it's the thin, single stack that Glock never made. If it continues to be as reliable as it was (for me) during the first 80 rounds, then S&W hit this one out of the park!

I wish the trigger in my M&P .45 was half as good as the Shield's. The Shield is more Glock like, short reset, crisp, etc...I love it....way to go S&W..my G27 may be staying home more!

Wish that I could find one out here in the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area. Every shop I have visited, including Cabela's, does not have any.

Everybody seems to be pretty happy with how the Shield shoots, which is good to hear :D. I was lucky to get the 2nd one to come in our LGS, and as far as I know that's been all he's got in so far. It was the quickest "I'll take it" on any gun I've bought.
