1. Bobbed hammer?
2. are dead night sights original?
3. straight grip vs arch? is that just a grip change?
4. mags all different, not sure which order of issue they would go in (oldest to newest design)
5. Left side legend is just 2 lines earlier or later?

Nice find, the hammer looks just like the factory hammer of my 1076. Interested in the mag info, as well, as I now have 5 factory mags for the 10mm with white and yellow followers, no idea which were original to the pistol. Thanks, Bill

Hammer is non-standard for the 4506, the rear sight is aftermarket.

Off hand, I think the serial # and the two line text on the slide put it around '90-'91.

Mags are a mixture of vintages.

Black follower ES1 is last of the mags universal to all versions of 4506. Steel base most likely predates 4506. Cant remember which was first orange or yellow but the original 4506 (and the compact 4516) reportedly had some feed problems. The response was a minor design change on the mags and as i recall some minor changes to internal frame geometry. The first magazine change were generally marked 4506-1 (or in case of compacts 4516-1 only). The first iteration oc the mag reportedly had its own issues and a second iteration of the mag with slight changes to top came with the black follower. In the case of the 4516 there were also recoil spring changes in the 4516-2 which were retrofitted to pistols experiencing issues. As far as i can tell there are few current issues with the early mags in the remaining unretrofitted pistols and no issues in any pistols using the late mags with the black follower.

As to the 1076 the original mags with yellow followers were replaced by mags with the white followers. Not sure when in 10xx production

ACEd - Thanks for your input on the 1076 mags. I didn't intend to for the thread to go astray, but over the years I forgot which of the mags came with the pistol originally, as I bought it new around 1990 or so. Thanks again, Bill

Thanks for all the help/input....also thinking the front site is matched to rear as it also is a dead night sight...maybe swapped out when hammer was changed...along with maybe the recoil spring?...slide is very hard to retract along with reassembly, putting it in with guide rod.

Had a 1006 30 yrs ago maybe....sold it when I couldnt get ammo for it
another gun I wish I had hung on too

thanks again al
