So this local guy says he has a 1969 "NYPD" Mod 60 that is "factory bobbed"

K thanks. How were the bobbed hammer finished? Satin( bead blasted) or smooth satin Stainless? Hammer on this one has been bead or vapor blasted. Without removing side plate and checking hammer, “ how do it know), humor added….

I have a 60 no dash but non-pinned barrel with a factory bobbed DAO hammer. But of course Smith sold me the hammer (satin) and I switched it out. Based on that I suspect there's quite a few of those that have been floating around over the years.

If it came from the factory as a DOA (at least if like the NY-1's) you can not fire in SA. The hammer will not stay back. Attached is pic of the hammer of NY-1 over-run 64-3. it was part of the second NY-1 production but never went to NYPD so did not get the usual markings.

I don't have a pic of the top of the hammer but as I recall it is bare metal, not finished in the flash chrome.
