Fitz grips part II

Below are comparison pictures of a fitz marked checkered pair (on the left) and the newly acquired un-marked smooth pair (on the right).

There are many similarities in these two thumb-rest target grips but there are also some very distinctive differences between the two pairs. In addition to one being marked "Fitz" & checkered and the other unmarked & smooth, I've identified five other differences:
1. frame relief window on the toe which provides a much-improved sight alignment angle for me and also gives access to the strain screw
2. tapered contour on the front strap of the grip which fits (fitz) my grip perfectly
3. screw head escutcheon on opposite sides
4. wood on the unmarked pair that I can't identify (makes it "exotic" to me), and
5. unique inletting - including two relief circles on the unmarked pair (which I still haven't figured out a purpose)

Will the experts here please weigh in with their thoughts . . . especially those who have bought genuine Fitz grips from the maker himself and know which (if either) is the real McCoy.

The checkered set on the left are Fitz (you stated they're labeled) and has the shape/style of Fitz stocks. However, the smooth set appears more indicative of Herretts shape/design. That being said, I don't know who made the set on the right with confidence. I don't recall seeing those side by side circles on the inside of any stocks.

The smooth set are Jay Scott. The two relief circles (I call them "moon eyes") on the inside are the telltale.

I agree. When the left se of grips is a typical Fitz, the second one is more similar to Herrett's thumbrest targets and their cheaper copy, Jay Scott targets. This set is Jay Scott.

Comparison

Here you can see all the thumbrest grips from back: they are similar, but they have peculiar characteristics.
