This may have already been covered but being a new owner of a MP15-22 I wanted to have a light option. I found many Tactical Flashlights from 90 to 700 Lumens, with and without strobe. I soon became confused as to the proper mount for the light as I read reviews how some were to large or small to hold a particular light. The Elzetta looked very nice but also very expensive and it claims to fit a range of lights sizes.

I ended up getting an Atak 5.11 L-2 flashlite with 220 lumens and strobe and a Mako PLA-1 quick release light and laser mount. Bought both at Gander Mountain, Atak at 50% off, $39 and mount for $29. The mount works great as it will adjust to hold a 1 inch or smaller light, worked great, recommend this mount.. This way if in the future I wish to upgrade to a higher Lumen light I am pretty much assured this Mako mount will fit the new FlashLight.

Now what I need to do is fire the MP for the first time!

My other guns, 45-70 Springfield Trapdoor, 1st issue 4 digit serial number, Spencer carbine, Spencer Sporting Rifle made 1868 with Tang site, 2 U.S. Cavalry Schofield's, Nylon 66 Apache, M&P 9mm new, soon to add a second as well as a M&P 223.

The M-79 is old school. It is quick release yes, but it is for 1" lights IIRC. If you need smaller you're gonna have to use a spacer. I'm also not fond of the place the M-79 puts the lights. I prefer my lights between my rails. I have not found one that fits my needs exactly yet, but I'm currently using the Viking Tactics polymer mount.

It fits a 1" diameter light, but has a 0.8" diameter mount that inserts in it quite nicely. I'm currently only using a Streamlight PT1-L, at 110 lumens, but it is all I need.

Gear sector is IMO the best, lowest profile and sleekest out there. I highly recommend them.
