FO Front for 5" IL 63

Has anybody cracked the code on putting a FO Front Sight on the 5" barrel 63 (is it a 63-4?). The 5" 63-5 has a shorter black ramp front sight and base, so the Longer FO Hi-Viz front hangs off the back of the ramp.
I'm 53 and I need a FO Front on a Trail Gun. I still Backpack and I want a gun to shoot small game with while I'm around camp. The 3" gun is perfect for plinking/low threat defense and shooting as an understudy to a J frame .38, but is lacking on longer hunting type shots- or more likely its me, haha. Still a 5" barrel is easier to hit with for anybody at 15-20 yard distances than a 3" Bbl.
I figure somebody here has put a FO on their 5"Bbl. 63 and knows whats what.

I was hoping that someone had already done this, or knew of a Dawson, or another Company that had a sight that would work.

If it exists, why would you be opposed to a drop in part from the OEM? Parts S&W often gives away for free. Is making one phone call that much of a burden?

YOU could be the guy that discovers the hot cool and easy way to modify a Model 63 front sight!

There is no S&W Fiber Optic Front Sight for the 5" model 63. They use the Hi-Viz and that is only good on the 3" 63 which has a longer front sight base.

I've got an email in to CS @ Hi-Viz to see if anything that they have will work and also I'm on to a FO front from Cylinder & Slide that might work.

If & when I resolve this, I will pass the info along.

Did you check SDM sights? They have hi viz , gold bead and , I think an ivory bead . Whether or not they have something in the size you need I'm not sure . Also brownell's usually answers questions pretty quick and they carry sdm's in stock . I've looking for a 5" m-63 to so you got my attention . One more thing is I have seen a couple guns that have fluorescent model paint on their sights that really looked good at the range . Good luck!

I have a new 3" Model 63 and the FO sight isn't even as bright as the dab of Bright Sight paint I use on several other guns.

Thanks Guys. I appreciate it. I have painted sights in the past & maybe will again.
Got into FO Sights from using 10-8 FO Sights on Glocks. The C&S J frame front comes in 2 heights: .112 & .149 and is .125 wide. It is .745 total length. I don't have calipers that work, so I haven't measured the length (OAL) of the Hi-Viz FO front on my 3" 63 yet.
Maybe somebody can do this that has some calipers. Hopefully the HiViz will measure out a tad longer than the C&S Sight.
