Safelite was set up by a bunch of the big insurance companies to handle glass claims that are normally covered by comprehensive, collision or extended warranty claims. The economies of scale are huge. Each location is either franchised or company owned. I had a glass claim on my wife's new Toyota and was directed by the dealership to do it with the local Safelite. It took about an hour and although the wife had to take it back in to re-set the computer gadgets in the windshield, we were quite pleased with the service. The set up was impressive-well equipped shop, about 20 fully equipped service vans all staffed and loading up for the day's calls as I showed up at the shop. Gone are the days of the local glass shops, at least where I am located.
My dealership is in New Iberia, Safelite is on the west side of Lafayette and I live in little old Jeanerette.
