Well this was my first attempt at this. Like always, its far from perfect but the best I can do. I basically took out the soldering iron and taped off what I didn't want to stipple and tried to overlap each poke at a time while adding bigger grip holes in key areas.

I also took down the two humps on the grip with a dremel tool and sanded them down. I just didn't like the feel of them due to my middle finger laying on top of the top hump while actively shooting.

sorry about the bad pics. Theyre off my iphone. All my pics get cloudy on the bottom right side.

added this pic to show the bottom edge line. Duck tape baby!

and a quick progress pic of my 7 inch upper. I still need to polish up the face of the handguard a little to match up the sheen on the rest of the handguard.

Thanks all. It took me about 3 hours. I really like the feel of it. The texture is very grippy and the hump removal makes it even better. I tested it out with my mechanix gloves and there is zero slippage with minimal grip pressure. Run and gun plinking should be fun this weekend:)

And the winning question......How much? :) I like very much.....What!!?? You think I'm joking? Inquiring minds want to know!! You may count me and odjoe in if it's not outrageous.........Melly Chlithmuth.....sorry, been licking too many stamps.....:)

Nice work, I was thinking of moding my magpul miad grips as well. I have Foliage green grip butbwould like the stippled sections to be Black.
I'm thinking I can sand it down a few thousands, and insert Black griptape to bring it backcFlush. More forblool than feel, because these grips are nice n grippy as is.

Get a black grip and paint it whatever color you want. Mask off the sections you don't want painted.

Not an M&P15-22, but you get the idea. Grip is a modified M16A2 grip (like USAF's). Paint is Brownells AlumaHyde II in Coyote and the painted grip matches the handguards better than the stock.

I had to just go and copy you. I went with some grittier stipples just since I like the feel of it. gun feels much better in my hand without that nub too.

Thanks for the idea!

Looks good man!!! I like that red white and blue scheme too.
Im a bit of a weight reduction whore so eliminated the bottom bump too. It looks good either way though.

Ive got other projects that I am working on too in regards to functionality and weight reduction for the mp22. Working on these plastic plinkers is a blast!!

That looks very professional! I would like to remove the finger hump from mind and then polish it back to blend in with the rest of the grip.
If you think this would work, what would you polish it with?

I basically worked my way down to a finer and finer grit sand paper before i decided to stipple the whole thing. I think the last grit was 1200.

Even if you are sanding it down to a very fine grit I think just giving it a nice fresh coat of paint is going to be the best way to make it look right. you could buff and polish all day but I think it would definitely still show.
