Just got this in from ACDF (Arizona Citizens Defense League)

Bills filed to make you a criminal

On January 16th, Senator Ableser (D-26) filed two bills attacking law-abiding gun owners.

SB 1049 would expand the definition of "school" in ARS 13-3102 (Weapons Misconduct) to include post-secondary educational institutions (i.e., colleges and universities). The proposed laws would make possessing a firearm on post-secondary educational institutions a Class 6 Felony. Under current law it is a misdemeanor to possess a firearm on K-12 school grounds and firearms policy on colleges and universities is controlled by the governing boards of the institution. The passage of SB 1049 would empower criminals while disarming their victims.

SB 1050 would outlaw the possession of any magazine or other "feeding device" that holds more than 10 rounds and make their possession a Class 4 Felony. With the millions of semi-automatic firearms with standard capacity (i.e., greater than 10 rounds) possessed by law-abiding Arizona gun owners, this would do nothing more than a create a new class of criminal whose only crime is the possession of a hunk of plastic and metal that politicians have deemed evil. We also question the rationale of anyone who believes that the construction of an inanimate object affects the behavior of the person possessing it.

We urge you to contact Senator Ableser and politely inform him that you dislike the legislation he has introduced. You can use the message we have prepared or edit what is there.

Been waiting to see which idiot would do this!!

Guess its time to send another letter out!!!!

It's almost always Dumbocrats doing this garbage. If I were an AZ resident I'd help. I wrote the two TX Senators and the Rep, all three are very pro gun. Don

Dang! Keep up the fight guys-I like the desert and sure don't want to cross Arizona off of my cool place to live list!

This is Arizona. The only chance this bill has is from displaced Californians bringing their liberal ideas along. Everybody has guns here, my work has a pistol team and most of the guys stand in the hallways talking about guns. Even my daughter's ballet teacher was telling how she was excited to get a Sig 40 for Christmas and how her husband got an AR.

I don't see this passing easily here in AZ at all.

True but you still need to do your part and make sure your views are known. Contact your reps

Is there something in the water that the dems are drinking?

We all need to remember who it is that introduced bills that infring on our second amendment rights and our freedom, elections will be coming up again and they need to be remembered at that time. I hope we can look at removing any politicion that willfully tried to infring on the second amendment and violated their Oath to protect and defend the Constitution. I do not see why their feet can not be held to the fire.....as any of us thzt served would be if we did not live up to the Oath. The law needs to be applied equally to them as it is to us.

Kind of hard to believe this comes out of Arizona right ??
Like Buffalohunter said, remember come election time
who is on our side and who is not. Good luck in getting
though this my friends. Speak out and be heard.
If similar legislation is proposed in Indiana i'll be raising
Holy Heck with my Representatives.

Well I can say that while I used to be in Tucson, and lived about 2-3 miles from Rep Giffords was shot, that I was surprised that things did not get out of hand after that, while everyone was dealing with what had happened, and there was a brief outcry for gun control, it was not anywhere near what I was expecting. I have been proud to call AZ home for almost 13 years, I in fact moved from Littleton, CO the day columbine happend again only living about 1 1/2 miles from there. I can say that we have from my past experience here in AZ, a very favorable demographic in respect to gun rights, and the 2nd Amendment. However with that being said I am starting to see a slight shift in that, it may have to do with transplants here I am not sure. It does have me a little bit concerned. I don't know how many were able to make out for the GAA this weekend (yesterday) at the state capitals, while we had a OK showing here in Phoenix, I was hoping for more of a turnout (I think we had about 1000-1200 ish just a guess). I know we had a Crossroads gunshow, and I am sure that was a factor. However I went to the show they had last weekend in Mesa, So I skipped this one, and from some of the comments I have seen I didn't miss much other than over inflated prices. I think we all need to do what we can even if we are in a "gun freindly" state or not, Support the NRA, GOA, SAFO or any of our state support organizations. This is a stance we cannot afford to ease up on, if they feel they are gaining any ground whatsoever or that they are getting less resistance, they will not stop, and will just continue to push this issue of restrictions to the maximum limit.

I am not trying to sound like a extremist or a gun nut by any means, I just do not want to see anyones right now or in the future infringed upon, and yes people can argue that things inacted now can be nullified in the future as the Clinton issue was in 04, but myself, I dont want to wait 10 years or longer and place my faith in a system that may or may not reverse a system that is in place. This isnt just about us in the here and now, its about future generations being able to enjoy the RIGHTS that we enjoy now, undeterred, and without compromise.

Sorry for the rant all
