If by chance you do crack a forcing cone on a M66 will S&W replace barrel. And if so will they change barrel size?

They will replace a barrel but with what depends on what they have left in stock. I'm guessing it's a K-frame since N-frames didn't have that problem?

If you can find a replacement barrel, they will install it.

You would need to call S&W to confirm, but I've read several threads where people have been told there are no more K-frame barrels left. Some have stated S&W has offered them a new gun.

No Bill, I'm ready for a K frame shoot out whenever you are. Just wondering "if " is all. I'm kind of getting a jones for a 2 1/2" K frame is all.

Much depends on the age of the gun. Newer S&W's have a lifetime guarentee, BUT.... this is always based on whether they have a new barrel.

In the case of a "K" frame, especially a 2 1/2" Model 66, the answer is that they no longer have any barrels.
Crack it, and you're SOL.
That's why I'm VERY careful about how much .357 ammo I shoot through my Model 66 with the rare 3" barrel, OR my 2 1/2" Model 66.

Ahhh?
Do you have a cracked cone on your 66?
Or is this a question because of the old stories that been floating around for years that the k-frames can't take much 357 loads?

The second, and a poor question at that. I just won't crack mine and make life easier. Forget I asked.

They can crack. My mod. 19 cracked the forcing cone after 25 years of mag ammo. Fortunately, I had a 2" barrel to put on it. Now it only shoots mags once in a while.
