I remember it well. I had just completed tech school in Rantoul, Illinois.
I was also an Aretha fan and did my best to learn the guitar parts that Duane recorded with her in the studio. I got my first Coricidin bottle because of him. He could make it talk. I just made it mumble.
I saw the Allman Brothers on April 5th 1970 at the Ludlow Garage here in town. My favorites from them are In Memory of Elizabeth Reed and Whipping Post. They played Elizabeth Reed for what seemed like half an hour to me. I was transfixed. I never wanted it to end.
Love the Allman Bros Band got to be at 5 concerts with them.
Greaat American band.
RIP Duane, Gregg, Berry And Butch Trucks, You left us with great sweet music!
Jim
During a lot of the 80's when all the big hair glitter bands were coming out, all I listened to was southern rock. I only got to see the Allman Bro's one time in 79 at the Legend Valley Dixie Jam II show. Still have my ticket, the fence got tore down and we just walked in. My favorite songs are Ain't My Cross To Bear, Trouble No More, One Way Out, and Jessica.
Time signatures are fun as is tempo.
You can waltz in 4/4 time if you set the tempo at 60 BPM or a bit slower.
Then just move them feet in triplets and it's a Viennese Waltz.
So I took the time to watch Rusty's video and it was well worth the bandwidth. I don't know anything about times, but I know what I like to hear. When guitars were guitars and men had hair. Thanks for the memory.
