I sold my last SW40VE for $150. The ammo makes your deal good.
I told the buyer of mine that the sear had been polished (by me), and the trigger was as good as it was going to get. I also sold him 5 magazines that worked 100% in the gun, and told him which ammo it favored.
Well, I saw him a few months later, and the gun was a jam-o-matic. He had decided to "further improve the trigger", and had got it to where it would not reset with defense ammo. So he sent it to S&W, where they completely replaced the sear assembly, losing the carefully smoothed sear. He had also got his hands on some "bargain" magazines. He had some .40 ammo I never heard of, and it could not get through a magazine without jamming. He said he shot matches for about 3 months with no malfunctions, but then decided he should "improve" the gun and "economize" with cheaper ammo and magazines.
I think you see the point of my post: the SW40VE and SW9VE are good reliable service pistols (I use them for loaners and trainers) but if you don't like them for what they are, swap up to an M&P, IMHO.
