Picked up a M&P at the local gunshow today. I'm thinking it's a 1920-1921 manufacture. No "Made in USA" on right side of frame, mushroom ejector. Serial# 3463xx. It has a set of replacement grips, but grips are pristine 1950's era magnas. Overall, gun has been used (Honest wear for an 80+ year old gun--not a safe queen). About 90% blue, with very light "flecking". I'll need to send away for a letter on this one!

O.K., Here are a couple of pictures that I took this morning.
Warning: I didn't size these down at all so they are large (2mb each) for those using dial up.

EDIT: I downsized the pictures to a manageable level.

Also, the dealer that I bought it from(and that I know very well), told me it came out of a Police confiscation auction. Glad to know that there are some departments left that will release these. Good thing this was in rural Kansas, if it was confiscated in Chicago or New York, it'd be a manhole cover by now

A minimal amount of TLC; light cleaning, polishing and will make a really nice looking old gun. It's not bad now, but looks like it has considerable potential. Yeah, that was good save.

Sarge, use the search/find function and you'll see examples of the original style grips for that gal. They can be found at gunshows without too much trouble, nice find! By the way, those are good looking diamonds that you have on it, lot's of character!

I'll be able to find a pair of original grips at either the big KC show next weekend, or at the Tulsa show in April. In the meantime, I have a 1961 vintage Model 10 that needs a set of diamonds to make her original. So a win-win situation.

I found this one about two months ago in a pawn shop for $100. It's number is 350xxx so it's close to yours, but not in condition. Great save.

Sarge, by the way, I'm no expert on these guns by any stretch, but the experts are here for sure! I bought a similar weapon a couple of years back that I believe was from 1926 if memory serves me and it came with replacement grips, not nice diamonds like yours though. I did find an orginal set of grips, thanks to posters on this site, but let me tell you, if you plan to shoot it, the targets you have on it now (or similar) are superior than the originals for accuracy, grip, etc. Keep your eye out for a run-of-the-mill set of targets just in case you want to take her out and make some noise. Oh yeah, I found a pair of originals in a Phoenix gun show for $20.00 and I see them for about the same price at every show I go to. Good luck and keep us posted!

Sgt Neutron I have one like yours. Mine is serial # 4009xx shipped 23 Mar 1922 to North Western Importers unknown address.
