Went to a gun show in Monroe, MI today. Not a huge show but some decent revolvers to be had. I happened to be standing next to a fellow who had a revolver for sale. He had been offered pretty much wholesale for a very nice Model 27-2, made in 1978. It has "4T's", display case, tools, owner's manual, and blank registration card. The man owned it from 1978.

I made him an offer after we left one of the tables, and he accepted it. Home it came with me. It's in excellent condition with only 2 small places where the bluing is thin, on the barrel.

Dennis,

Congratulations on your find. Looks like it was used very little. Nice grips, too!

Bob, Looks like Herrett's on yours. Which style?

Thanks for the post,

Jerry

Those are custom Shooting Stars... very comfortable. Standard wood, too. Herrett's usually sends out nice wood on their custom stuff.

Exellent pick up Dennis. It is a fine looking gun.

I'm glad that someone is finding them here in this state. I haven't seen very many nice ones in a long time here. I guess we have some pretty well educated guys in this state who know what to look for in all things S&W.:)

Congratulations on the purchase of that great looking model 27. They are my favorite S&W revolver and I have a few and only two of mine are shooters as the rest are collector guns in mint to mint unfired condition.

Beautiful gun, nice score at the show. I rarely see any older Smith's in decent shape at shows around me. That's 3 27's I've seen you get / post here in the past month or so. Jeff

Reinforced corner two part box, instructions, warranty card....all good. There really are lots of those older Smiths out there. The trick is to get them before they are sold off in an estate sale.
