Frankengun Model 28-2 to 41 magnum question

You guys have convinced me to just leave it as is. I agree that 28's and nice prelock N frames are getting harder to find so I'll just leave it be. I just hate that I lost the 657-never shoot another man's reloads!
You made the right decision about keeping your Model 28 as-is. And, yes, one should not shoot someone else's reloads.

I'd worry about dissimilar metal corrosion between the barrel and the frame. So I'd really want to research that before starting such a project.

Running out of real things to worry about, are we? I mean, it's not like dissimilar metals are involved here...

Sorry to hear about the bad luck with the 657. We've all made mistakes like that, I suppose. If we do anything long enough the likelihood of an isolated boo-boo may come along. Hopefully you can find another .41 somewhere.

I'd keep both of your 28s, but as has been pointed out, they are popular right now, and one or the other could be very valuable trading stock when you find that .41. Good luck.

I have a 57-5 Mountain Gun, a 57 No Dash 4", 6" and 8 3/8" so I am pretty well covered in blue 41's. Maybe I'll come by another 657. I had one in 7 1/2" but just didn't cotton to it very well so it went on down the road.
