The wife and I were out this evening for dinner and a show.;)
After a fantastic sea food dinner and a nice cold brew we headed into our local Performing Arts Center to see none other than Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
We had perfect stage front seats couldn't miss a beat. Could have even maybe shook his hand if I wanted to if I would have gotten up to do so....Not! I'm no groupie and I'll just enjoy the show! ;)
For 83 years old that man can still put on a fabulous show from doing music from his old days up until now, he can still really sing them and play the crowd!

But alas, I'm a little disappointed with Mr. Valli, he's up onstage promoting a new CD that he and the boys recorded doing other people's hits. They sang some of the songs that were on the disc. Sounded good, CD called Romancing the 60's
So upon leaving I purchased that CD plus another one that looked New as well and it wasn't all old Four Season stuff.
So when I get home and open these up to check out what is really on them I find that the one he said was brand new was really pressed back in 07, and to boot I already have it! Now the one I never seen before was pressed in 2012 so that one was actually newer! That one I don't have!;)
So shame on you Mr.Vali!, you took me once you won't do it again! I should have known better and not missed that one.
But I still like the music!:D

I saw Frankie Vali & the 4 Seasons many years ago in Central Park (NYC) - great concert! A few years ago we saw The Jersey Boys and enjoyed that well. While he is far from our favorite singer, we do enjoy his music very much.

Saw the group play 40yrs ago at the Valley Forge Music Fair.

Probably have all of the original Four Seasons songs but not so many of the newer group.

Wish the video was better.

You may enjoy watching this.

Yeah, he could have been....

He could have been a bit more forthcoming there. One thing I remember about FV and FS was the unbelievable quality of the sound in the harmony in 'Silence Is Golden'. Took my breathe away. I know there are now new Seasons, but as long as he's still singing well and has a good group with him, he's tops.

I have to say for his age, Frankie Valli can still perform very well. I saw him last year on the PBS 4th of July concert special they do in Washington. He was great as both a singer and host - much classier then the trash the main networks were showing that night. When I was going to pick up my new Beretta M9 on May 3rd, I heard on the radio that it was his birthday. What a fitting gun for the occasion - two of the best Italian-Americans!

He seems to have relegated himself to only singing parts of lines and letting the other members pick up the rest. Can't blame him given his age.

I've watched him on PBS along with singers like Lou Christie (Lightning Strikes) and B.J.Thomas (Hooked on A Feeling). They appear ready to pop a neck vein trying to sing like they did in their younger days.

I don't think any other singer will ever match Valli's longevity but it seems like Mick Jagger is trying to do it.

Tony Bennett is 90 and on tour doing full sets.

That isn't really Tony Bennett, though...it's one of those animatronic human model things like you see at Disney World.

Notice how, in the attached clip, the software developed a glitch, causing "Tony" to keep repeating the same movements over and over, and forcing the other musicians to blindly follow along, in a vain attempt to make it look as if nothing's wrong.

RW, Silence is Golden is one of my favorites done by him and they did it last night! ;)
He can still hit most of the high stuff but he would jokingly reach for the netheregion for some self support! You can tell when he can't because the back ups pick it up or the music gets a little louder! But hey for 83, God love him and I hope he's around for some time yet to come.
I enjoyed seeing him when he played in the Sopranos, very fitting part and as well as in Hawaii Five O.
I have to say he will be one entertainer that I will miss when his time does come! ;)

Wow.....

Frankie Valli suffered from otosclerosis in 1967, an inherited disease that took a lot of his hearing, forcing him to 'sing from memory'. Later, an operation restored most of his hearing. I think it's amazing that I've never noticed anything through the years. He must have a good 'memory'.

That guy is now 83. I used to have a mean falsetto, but lost it at around 50 years. Why do some people seem indestructable???
